Directors Craig and Melissa Monaghan say the investment follows several years of planning, driven by the need to improve working conditions rather than expand the size of the business. “We are turning 10 this year and we had outgrown our old workshop,” Craig says. “We purchased our new site three years ago and have been working through the design and build of a purpose-built workshop. It has all come together ahead of our anniversary in November.” The new 1000sqm facility has been designed to streamline operations, with two overhead gantry cranes allowing the team to complete large-scale work indoors while reducing manual handling risks. “We can still do the same big jobs, but now we do them much more efficiently,” Craig says. “The cranes mean we are not relying on forklifts, so it is safer and more practical for the work we do.” The upgraded layout includes five roller doors, with dedicated bays, benches, and individual workspaces for each trades- person. Office and staff facilities have also been significantly improved, with a reception area and proper smoko room replacing what was previously a container setup. “Our old workshop did not reflect the level of work we were doing,” Melissa says. “Now when clients come in, they see a professional operation straight away. The building matches the standard of the work inside.” “Dannevirke is home for us. It is a small town, but there is a strong network of businesses,” she says. “Local work helps us train our team, while larger projects from outside the region keep everyone busy.” The nature of the work means many staff spend time away on site, gaining experience across different locations. “The younger guys enjoy the travel and the variety. It works well having a mix of people on the road and others focused on local jobs.” With the new workshop now operational and a steady flow of projects secured, Entire Engineering is focused on maintaining its reputation for reliable, high-quality work. “We take pride in what we do,” Craig says. “No matter the job, we are committed to delivering it safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.” Craig says the focus of the project was to support the team and improve service delivery. “We are happy with the size of the business. This was about working smarter, creating a safer environment, and delivering a better result for our clients.” From its Dannevirke base, Entire Engineering operates across New Zealand, with crews regularly travelling to meet demand. Current projects include work in Masterton, Hawera, and Clandeboye, along with a project in Australia assembling a boiler for a New Zealand client. “A lot of our work is specialised, particularly in the boiler sector. We have strong relationships with repeat clients, and our team has built a reputation for turning up and getting the job done with minimal disruption,” Craig says. Craig has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry, beginning his career in boiler fabrication and installation. After completing his apprenticeship with RCR, he established Entire Engineering in 2016 with a focus on quality workmanship and practical solutions. “That early training set the foundation for this business,” he says. “It is important to pass that on to the next generation.” The company actively supports apprenticeships and works closely with local schools, providing pathways for young people through programmes such as Gateway. Staff are trained across multiple disciplines, building versatility in fabrication, welding, and site work. “We are developing well rounded tradespeople. There is a real need for that, especially as a lot of experienced workers are getting older,” Craig says. Melissa says maintaining a strong connection to the local community remains important.
