Fifty years later, the company they started is a trusted frontrunner in its field, delivering industrial insulation and sheet metal services across New Zealand. Reaching a half-century in business this year is a significant milestone for Best Insulation, which will celebrate the occasion with past and present staff members at a special event in September. This year, the company is forging ahead positively with strong foundations in place. Current owners Mark Jarmey, Ryan Jarmey and Brad Coxhead have led the company forward since 2013 with integrity, targeting growth while upholding the founding commitments to quality and integrity. Brad has particularly deep roots with Best Insulation, having first joined the company nearly 20 years ago as a young apprentice, but he is by no means the longest- serving member of the team – that prize goes to a loyal employee, who has been with the company for some 47 years. Rotorua remains Best Insulation’s central hub of operations. A New Plymouth branch opened in June 2015, coinciding with a strategic acquisition from Fletcher Building of insulation contracting assets in the region. That doubled operational capacity at the time. Last year, a third branch opened in Napier. Servicing timber, food production, wineries, rendering plants, and other key industries, the Napier team is providing tailored hot and cold insulation services to industries across Hawke’s Bay. As well, Best Insulation acquired Southern Insulation’s operation in the North Island last year, bringing a further expansion in staff numbers and customer base. All three branches work together to share staff and resources, as needed. “Reaching 50 years is a proud achievement for us as a company, reflecting the strength of the business, the loyalty we have built with our clients and the skill of our people,” says Ryan. “We’ve worked hard to honour the legacy we inherited, while continuing to grow and innovate. We have reached a new peak this year – the strongest we’ve been since the company’s inception.” Keeping Best Insulation at the forefront is the company’s commitment to quality, safety and efficiency, supported by investment in new machinery. For example, a new forklift telehandler was recently added to the fleet for site projects. It allows for bulky insulation materials to be loaded, unloaded and moved with ease, and reduces the need for manual handling. Another new addition is a purpose-built foam machine rig for cold store projects. The team has been fully trained in its use, with this new machine delivering high-quality results on-site and supporting ongoing growth in the cold store market.
