The two-bedroom units feature open-plan living, modern kitchens with stone benchtops and stainless-steel appliances, tiled bathrooms and private courtyards with a single car park positioned directly outside the home. The three-bedroom townhouses offer a more spacious layout designed to suit families or buyers seeking additional space. They offer 2.5 bathrooms including ensuite in the master bedroom, which also has a walk-in wardrobe, and internal-access garage. All homes have been built to the latest building standards with energy-efficient construction, low-maintenance materials and freehold titles. Founded in 2019 by Stephen Prabhakaran and friend Godwin Charles, Nest Corp began just before the pandemic as a small property development venture driven by a shared interest in developing properties and building homes. “Let’s just say we have definitely seen the ups and downs of the property market,” says Stephen with a laugh. The pair both work across each development with Stephen, who lives in Palmerston North, taking the lead on projects in that city and Godwin, who is based in Christchurch, overseeing developments in his home region. This structure, they say, allows the business to maintain hands-on oversight across the growing portfolio while remaining responsive to local market conditions. “I like to design the houses,” says Stephen. “So, the initial layout of Nest Corp builds is usually drawn by me then developed by an architect. We are both actively involved in each project.” He explains that the approach is centred on balancing practicality with design quality, ensuring each home is suited to a broad range of buyers. Nest Corp has focused on creating homes for first-home buyers, downsizers and investors, with an emphasis on low- maintenance living and proximity to key amenities as consistent drivers of demand. It also positions its builds as long-term rental options with durable materials and functional layouts designed to minimise upkeep. Alongside the completed Bourke Street development Nest Corp currently has two townhouse projects available for sale in Christchurch.
