Upgrades for 4WDs offers a range of services including general vehicle servicing and repair but mostly focusing on suspension and accessory upgrades for 4WD vehicles. “We also build things people haven’t really done before in New Zealand. For example we were the first in New Zealand to design and manufacture a chassis stretch and coil conversion on a brand new 79 series land cruiser. A process that took over six months of paperwork with the LVTA before work could even begin.” Trundles Automotive continues to invest in new vehicles in order to develop and test new products, recently completing turbo kits for its new Suzuki Jimny, and also completes customisations to suit the clients’ requirements. For example Claire says it is working on putting a kitchen sink with fridge in a land cruiser so the customer can take it camping. “It’s about taking a standard four wheel drive and making it cool and functional,” she says. “We have also installed hot water showers and induction cooktops that are completely off grid with solar panels.” The benefit for customers is that Trundles Automotive does everything in-house from tyres, suspension, turbo upgrades, tuning, ADAS recalibration and certification, making it a one-stopshop. Trundles Automotive also has its own range of products it has designed and manufactured that are exported to Australia. These include high mount cast manifolds, 3D printed airbox adaptors and tuning accessories to name a few. “Our industry recognition has been achieved through extensive product research which allows us to develop superior products that have been shown to outperform their competitors time and time again,” says Claire. “It’s driven by our team of innovative mechanics and product engineers who, between them, have over 100 years of experience in the automotive industry. “During the product testing process, the team pushes their concepts to their limit in order to guarantee its quality before putting it on the market.
