Collectively operated under the Hawkes Bay Toyota Group, Taupo Toyota is one of five neighboring Toyota branches along with Hawkes Bay, which includes Napier and Hastings, Rotorua, and Eastland (Gisborne). They share a vision to provide a community-centric service delivering a seamless customer experience across all five locations. Shaine Pask has been the Taupo Branch Manager since relocating from Christchurch in 2012. He’s enjoyed being part of the Taupo community ever since. The Toyota Taupo store at 70 Spa Road has had a long history in automotive since its early days as a service station and dealership which saw it hosting a variety of brands before becoming part of the Hawkes’ Bay Toyota Group in 2000. It’s seen a steady growth in market share ever since and now has 27 staff including more than one who have been with the branch for over 20 years. When the company owners decided it was time to expand and improve the premises they were given the opportunity instead to purchase the site which paved the way for an extensive renovation and expansion, Shaine explains. “We started with a new 346 sqm workshop. Once completed, we will knock down part of the old building to put up something new and renovate the rest with customer service front of mind.” “We already punch above our weight here. We’re generally top or consistently near the top in our group and we deliver anywhere up to 40 new vehicles a month currently, plus another 30 used vehicles. We take 30 to 40 new vehicle orders as well and the workshop adds a further 30 to 40 retail jobs a day,” says Shaine. He credits his team with that impressive number of monthly transactions. “Our service team and our sales team offer customer service second to none. Our company mantra of being best employer in town ensures we can deliver superior customer experience consistently. “ The workshop is the driver behind the business and must be always operational: preparing new vehicles with accessories, readying used cars for sale, or carrying out the quality service needed to keep all vehicles (any make) on the road. The new workshop had to be operational before demolition could begin on the half of the old one destined to be rebuilt to house Service and Parts. A new showroom, customer lounge and state of the art facilities were all designed and built to help the team maintain their trademark quality service to their growing clientele. With all the earth works completed along with a high-spec build by Coresteel, the new premises will achieve everything Toyota Taupo and the wider Hawkes Bay Toyota Group team had hoped for. “The owners have an appetite for investing back into their properties as they appreciate the positive impact this has on staff, customers and the town.
