The sloping site, looking out over the city to the sea beyond, has since been strengthened and stabilised to provide a sound foundation for new-home construction, with BCD Group delivering specialist geotechnical, structural and civil engineering services. “We have done a massive amount of retaining work to avoid any subsidence in future,” explains project developer Warren Bolton, of Frankel Building. “We knew we’d have to do that work when we took on the site, but the location is good. We’re low-key developers with a focus on stopping urban sprawl by enhancing bigger sites such as this with well-built, well-designed, well-located, modern homes.” Warren and his wife Claire have extensive commercial development experience throughout New Plymouth. Registered Master Builder Patrick Schrider leads Frankel’s construction team, with his wife Paula managing business administration. Their team of five is complemented by experienced local subcontractors. Frankel also proudly supports keen young people seeking careers in construction by taking on apprentices. “We’re very conscious of giving young kids out of high school an opportunity to progress,” says Warren.
