| 15 REGIONAL McKechnie Aluminium Solutions For nearly three decades, Forklift Specialty Hire has grown alongside McKechnie Aluminium Solutions, re ning its eet and services to meet the changing needs of one of Taranaki's largest manufacturers. Owned by Tony and Judy Geurts, the family business operates a eet of about 130 forklifts, ranging from 1.8-tonne models through to 16-tonne units. The company provides hire from as little as one hour through to seven-year agreements. Rather than simply supplying forklifts, Tony believes understanding how a business operates is the key to recommending the right machine. “We prefer to visit the site and understand exactly what customers want to achieve because what they think they need isn’t always the right machine for the job. We work through their requirements and recommend the best option.” Tony's connection with McKechnie Aluminium Solutions stretches back well before Forklift Specialty Hire was established. He rst became involved with forklifts at the company's New Plymouth manufacturing site in the mid-1980s, with that involvement expanding throughout the following decade. “In early 1998, I was approached to manage a new eet of forklifts at the site. This led to the formation of Forklift Specialty Services, which was established to provide servicing and maintenance for the eet on behalf of the equipment owners. “As our relationship with McKechnie’s grew, we began supplying the forklifts ourselves, leading to the establishment of Forklift Specialty Hire Ltd.” Today, about eight Forklift Specialty Hire machines operate at the New Plymouth manufacturing site. “Over the years, the site's operational requirements have continued to evolve, and we have consistently adapted our eet and services to provide machinery that meets those changing needs.” The partnership extends beyond supplying equipment. Forklift Specialty Hire manages servicing, maintenance, tyre replacement and breakdown support, with replacement machines available whenever required to minimise disruption and keep production moving. “If something is badly damaged, we’ll simply put another machine in, pull the damaged one out and start a new contract. Within a short time it’s business as usual.” The same managed hire model is available to customers throughout Taranaki and beyond. Long-term agreements include ongoing maintenance, technical support and prompt replacement equipment, allowing businesses to free up capital and focus on their own operations while Forklift Specialty Hire manages the eet. “If a customer hires a forklift from us, we look after everything and if something happens we’ll provide another machine while theirs is being repaired. It gives them certainty over their costs and helps keep their business running.” Keeping McKechnie moving for three decades. • FORKLIFT SALES & SERVICE • DRIVER TRAINING & FORKLIFT SERVICING 24 Swans Road, Bell Block, New Plymouth 027 230 5517 | judy@fshltd.co.nz | fshltd.co.nz FORKLIFT SPECIALTY Hire a Quality Forklift in Taranaki With over 100 forklifts in our eet, you’ll nd the perfect forklift for hire in Taranaki from the team at family-owned Forklift Specialty Hire.
