T&R Interior Systems T T Kim Newth REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Following its recent move into the Australian market, T&R Interior Systems is thrilled to have won recognition at this year’s ExportNZ ASB Central Region Export Awards. The 100% New Zealand-owned-and-operated company, which specialises in the supply of quality building and acoustic products, was honoured to receive the Judges’ Choice Award for outstanding achievement in exporting. “For us, it’s very exciting,” says Mark Davison, T&R national sales manager. “It’s the culmination of three or four years’ effort to have reached this point of getting export underway.” A breakthrough product, called Floc, developed by T&R Interior Systems, has given the company the momentum needed to target Australia’s commercial interiors market. It’s a market with a growing appetite for natural, healthy options. Floc certainly ticks that box. Manufactured in New Zealand using strong wool fibre sourced from local farms, the Floc 100% wool acoustic range is also supported by an independently verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), providing third-party data across its full lifecycle. Mark says gaining EPD verification last year has been a significant boost for Floc. It is the first 100% wool-based building product in Aotearoa to have achieved this status. “It has been huge for us – it’s another big green tick in the right box that opens a lot of doors.” With a distribution partnership in place with a reputable supplier, Armstrong Ceiling Solutions, T&R anticipates an ongoing positive response for Floc from the Australian interiors market. It expects that around 5500sqm of Floc Roll will be installed across a number of commercial interior projects in Australia over the first 12 months alone. “Floc Roll is an 8mm-thick, wool acoustic paneling product that adheres to interior walls. It boosts acoustic performance along with air quality and supports biophilic design,” says Mark. “It’s a Red List free product, meaning that it contains no harmful chemicals, and as a 100% New Zealand-made wool product, it’s renewable and recyclable so you can return it to the earth at the end of use.” From an aesthetic perspective, Floc is a quietly refined choice that adds warmth and texture to commercial interiors and is available in a curated range of colours. It presents an enticing option for those wanting a quality, natural New Zealand-made alternative to synthetic linings. Floc has already been well-received in the New Zealand market over the past two and half years, with rising demand in the education sector as a wool lining for classroom spaces, as well as for commercial office fit-outs. Adding to the positive picture for Floc, Mark says there is significant interest from Asia and Europe, but the company is taking it one step at a time to ensure growth happens in a balanced and sustainable way. For New Zealand sheep farmers, Floc brings hope for a brighter future. Floc’s team of talented and passionate people includes business development manager, Tom O’Sullivan, a former Campaign for Wool chair and former sheep farmer. The developers of Floc are committed to putting money back into New Zealand farmers’ pockets and helping to support the sector to thrive. Floc is a quietly refined choice that adds warmth and texture to commercial interiors and is available in a curated range of colours.
