Potter Interior Systems REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Potter Interior Systems is marking a major milestone in 2026 as it celebrates 60 years in business, with the company not only reflecting on six decades of commercial construction growth, but also increasingly looking toward new opportunities in the residential sector. Established in 1966, Potter Interior Systems has evolved from a specialist interiors supplier into a nationwide provider of integrated interior systems, with branches in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, and Christchurch supporting projects across the country. Its offering now spans aluminium partition systems, suspended ceiling grids and panels, insulation, passive fire protection, whiteboards, pinboards, and acoustic wall coverings. Commercial manager Jamie Florance says the company’s long-term success has been driven by strong client relationships and a partnership approach that goes well beyond supply. “Our strength is the relationships with our clients and customers,” Jamie says. “We are not just a supplier; we are more of a business partner. We put our customers first, and we like to say we are ‘customer obsessed’. We want to help them to survive for 60 years like we have.” He says that approach is supported by specialist capability within the business, with specification and technical teams working closely with architects and contractors to develop practical, compliant solutions from early design stages. Potter Interior Systems has been involved in a wide range of significant commercial builds nationwide, including major CBD developments in all centres, civic projects, and education and healthcare facilities across the country. Recent work includes specialist installations at the University of Victoria, where high performance and aesthetic interior systems were required using Nacci and custom aluminium suites. Potter Interior Systems has placed increasing emphasis on sustainability, with Environmental Product Declarations and Declare labels now available across much of its product range, providing transparency around material content and supporting green building outcomes. A major turning point for the business came in 2010 when Potter Interior Systems was acquired by CSR Limited, expanding its access to materials, systems, and operational capability. More recently, its integration into Saint Gobain has further strengthened its global product offering, particularly in advanced acoustic and fire rated ceiling systems used in complex commercial environments. Alongside international supply chains, Potter Interior Systems continues to rely on strong local manufacturing, with aluminium products produced in Hamilton and steel fabrication completed in Auckland. With access to a wider network of CSR Limited products, Potter Interior Systems is able to target further growth in both its core commercial sector as well as in targeted sectors like education, healthcare and aged care. “We are also starting to ramp up in residential,” Jamie says. “We can offer a full solution for a home, from insulation and exterior cladding through to roofing and interior lining.” To mark its 60th anniversary, Potter Interior Systems will roll out nationwide celebrations. “Our focus on customers is what has carried us through 60 years, and what will carry us forward,” Jamie says.
