Agent for LORCHWeldingmachines Made in Germany, quality assured. Invested in every customer From machine guarding and ducting to marine fabrication and commercial fitouts, Morris Sheetmetal Works combines broad fabrication capability with the flexibility to tackle almost any custom project. Based in Onehunga, the long-established business operates as a jobbing shop, producing one-off and bespoke work for customers across Auckland. Many arrive for a single job: a repair, a guard, a run of flashings, and many even leave with little idea of how much else the workshop can do. Clients come with detailed plans, a rough sketch, or just an idea, and the team handles everything from design refinement and quoting through to fabrication and finishing. Skilled staff work across stainless steel, aluminium, brass, copper, galvanised steel, zincalume and mild steel, undertaking commercial, industrial, architectural and residential projects, from a single bracket to projects that run for months. The workload is equally as varied: Health & Safety machine guarding, flashings, handrails, water tanks, truck decks, toolboxes, pipework, ducting and general commercial fabrication, with MIG and TIG welding extending what can be done in-house. Just as important is turnaround. The workshop turns over thousands of jobs a year, most of them small and completed quickly, and that reliability is why maintenance contractors, facilities managers and local businesses treat Morris Sheetmetal Works as a regular call rather than a one-off supplier. Recent demand has been strongest for construction equipment and purpose-built crane, forklift and telehandler attachments, including jibs, spreaders and other specialised lifting equipment. Morris Sheetmetal Works’ office manager, Cindy, says the ability to turn concepts into finished products is a defining part of the business. A CNC laser cutter, added in 2023, now runs for hours every day and has opened up another side of the business. It cuts everything from decorative designs and signage to heavy steel components, and seasonal window displays at the workshop have shown long-standing customers capability they never knew was there. After being underutilised initially, the technology has become a significant part of daily operation. Customers range from large facilities management and maintenance providers to local businesses and walk-in clients, with specialist stainless work for commercial kitchens and marine applications alongside the larger fabrication packages. Many come for one project and return for the next, with honest communication and genuine service driving the repeat work. “We want every customer to feel we are invested in them. Look after people properly and they come back.” Behind every project is a workshop culture built on teamwork and problem-solving. Staff are encouraged to contribute ideas and solutions, regardless of the scale or complexity of the job, helping ensure every project benefits from the collective experience of the entire team. The long-established business operates as a jobbing shop, producing one-off and bespoke work for customers across Auckland.
