Business North December 2025

| 53 Frame Group has once again won recognition for exceptional mahi, having recently picked up a 2025 Association of Consulting and Engineering (ACE) Silver Award for the high-profile Kauri Glen Reserve Walkway Treetop Bridge in Northcote, Auckland. ENGINEERING Frame Group “We’re thrilled to have won the 2025 ACE Silver Award for this project. When you go to these awards, you’re rubbing shoulders with big engineering consultancies doing big projects. We only have 12 people in our team here – winning this award shows that a little consultancy can make a difference, and be recognised.” Drew says their expertise in engineering solutions that are practical, reliable and easy to build, is fundamental to their success. Frame Group first started working with DOC in 2010 to develop a standardised approach on track upgrades to mitigate kauri dieback. This work has paved the way to a growing involvement with councils, government departments, iwi and community groups. Their specialist services are also sought after by businesses and private individuals. For example, Jay Robertson – the son of Julian and Josie Roberston, who developed the Kauri Cliffs championship golf course and The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs – engaged Frame Group to assess options for private walking tracks around Kauri Cliffs. That led to the development of a 6km loop track for lodge guests, made up of a gully walk and a cliff walk. Another memorable project involved designing and construction managing a temporary solution to reopen land-based access to iconic Cathedral Cove Beach on the Coromandel Peninsula, working in conjunction with DOC and Ngāti Hei. Access was closed for almost two years after the track was cyclone-damaged, before reopening last year. Now, Frame Group is involved in work to reopen access to another picturesque Coromandel bay, Waimata Gemstone Bay, and to re-route Hahei Track, connecting the village with Cathedral Cove. Frame Group’s main office in Auckland is complemented by a small office in Wellington, providing specialised advisory, feasibility study, design, engineering and construction management services for tracks and outdoor visitor structures from Cape Reinga to Bluff.
