Auckland-based NZ Crushing Services has carved out a strong niche in New Zealand’s civil and quarrying sectors, offering a comprehensive suite of mobile crushing, screening, earthworks, machinery hire, and recycling services. Owned and operated by Matt Bruce, the company has built its success on hands-on expertise, smart reinvestment in machinery, and a strong commitment to reliability, safety, and sustainability. Matt first entered the industry through his long-established business, Matt Bruce Auto Electrical, founded in 2007 to service heavy industrial machinery across the North Island. After two decades working with crushers and mobile plant, he spotted a gap in the market for a local contractor capable of delivering high-quality crushing services with in-house electrical expertise. “I was fixing people’s crushers through my auto electrical business, and when I saw a crusher for sale in Scotland, I thought I’d bring it over,” Matt says. “We ended up turning it into a new business, and that’s how NZ Crushing Services started.” Today, the company operates a modern fleet including jaw, impact, and cone crushers, multiple loaders and stackers, and a range of excavators and breakers — all maintained to the highest standard. NZ Crushing Services’ skilled operators are not only machine experts but are also fully trained and capable of handling on-site repairs and maintenance, reducing costly downtime. “We’ve built the business around reliability and problem-solving,” Matt says. “Because of my electrical background, I can pick up issues with machinery quickly before they turn into major failures. It’s a big advantage in a maintenance-heavy industry like crushing.” The company’s ability to deliver turnkey crushing and screening operations — from site preparation through to material production — has seen it involved in key North Island infrastructure and quarrying projects, producing aggregate, road base, and recycled concrete materials. NZ Crushing Services has become a trusted contractor for leading construction and infrastructure companies including Winstone Aggregates, Fletcher Construction, and the NX2 Northern Motorway Alliance, where the team has supplied and processed hundreds of thousands of tonnes of aggregate. “These big companies are great to work for as long as you follow their systems, keep your machinery up to standard, and meet all safety requirements,” Matt says. “Because of EARTHMOVER TYRE SERVICES LIMITED SPECIALISTS IN HEAVY MACHINERY TYRES & SERVICES Offering a comprehensive range of services to meet your OTR tyre needs. • Supply • Services • Tyre Vulcanizing • Fleet Checks A. 138 Totara St, Mount Maunganui P. 027 495 3434 E. jim@earthmovertyre.co.nz Onsite loader and digger bucket repairs | Design and build | Walkways Handrails and guarding | Mobile Hydraulic hose repairs General Engineering & Quarry Maintenance For Enquiries Contact: Nathan 027 753 3450 nathrob@me.com our experience with large operators through the auto electrical business, we knew the rules and had the right relationships in place.” As the construction industry shifts toward sustainability, NZ Crushing Services is investing heavily in concrete recycling for the production of high-value recycled aggregates. Working closely with Winstone Aggregates, the business is helping transform waste concrete into usable, environmentally responsible products. “Recycling is a lot more complex and risky than crushing virgin rock,” Matt says. “People are recycling concrete, but not everyone goes the next step to create a high-value product.” With purpose-built machinery sourced internationally — often refurbished by Matt himself — NZ Crushing Services now operates efficiently in both traditional crushing and advanced recycling applications.
