Ebode Homes: Bridleways Estate T T Nicki Woodlloock “Our homes are warmer in winter, cooler in summer, drier, mould-free, and provide a constant supply of fresh, filtered air through mechanical ventilation.” DEVELOPMENT Founded in 2024 in response to the growing demand for energy-efficient homes, Ebode Homes brings together the design expertise of Tawa Architecture and the building precision of Higgs Building Co. United by a shared vision, they are redefining how homes are built in New Zealand. At its core, Ebode believes a home should be both beautiful and high-performing – where exceptional design goes hand in hand with comfort and sustainability. Based in Cambridge, the Ebode Homes team builds high-performance homes across the Waikato. Their commitment to quality and sustainable living is showcased in their high-performance show home at 1 Whakahaumako Road, Cambridge. Led by Brooke from Tawa Architecture and Shaun from Higgs Building Co., the six-person Ebode Homes team brings together decades of combined expertise in architectural design, interior design and construction. With over 25 years of national and international design experience, Brooke was a pioneer of passive house construction in the Waikato, demonstrating that homes can be energy-efficient, healthy, and timeless in design. Shaun’s experience building overseas revealed the inefficiencies of traditional New Zealand homes and inspired his drive to create homes with a smaller environmental footprint. “Our homes are warmer in winter, cooler in summer, drier, mould-free, and provide a constant supply of fresh, filtered air through mechanical ventilation,” Shaun says. “They’re also more energy-efficient, meaning lower utility bills in the long term.” Ebode offers a collection of architecturally designed homes proven to use significantly less energy – blending style, performance, and sustainable living. Each plan is thoughtfully designed to suit a variety of sections across Waikato’s premier subdivisions, including the new Bridleways Estate in Cambridge, and can be tailored to individual needs. For those seeking something unique, Ebode also specialises in creating bespoke home designs. For the Bridleways Estate subdivision, Ebode offers customisable home designs, available in three- or four-bedroom layouts, with single-storey or lift-friendly two-storey options that create extra space for a pool or garden. Full details and plans can be viewed on the Ebode website. Ebode homes are industry leaders with the use of designs that incorporate the latest high-performance technologies, including structural insulated panel (SIP) construction and passive house principles, to deliver homes that are healthier to live in and kinder to the environment. By bringing design and construction together under one roof, Ebode ensures a seamless, well-coordinated process where every detail is carefully considered and designed to perform. SIPs feature a highly insulating foam core sandwiched between two layers of oriented strand board (OSB), creating a structure that delivers exceptional strength and thermal performance. “We build all of our homes with SIP panels, using passive house design principles,” says Shaun. “We have a base target for energy efficiency for every home. We use top-of-the-range energy-efficient joinery, roofing, and flooring, along with eco paints. All homes are designed and built to perform, proven to use 70% less energy than your standard New Zealand Building Code home.” What’s unique about Ebode Homes, according to Shaun, is: “We’re the only ones uniting the architect and the builder from the very beginning – combining expert high-performance knowledge in both design and construction. “Ebode brings decades of architectural and building expertise together under one roof to deliver high-performance homes, making it easier for New Zealanders to live in energy-efficient, future-ready homes”. Ebode Homes is currently working on three projects within the Bridleways Estate subdivision. The team has recently sold two houseand-land packages and has two more signed contracts, with construction set to begin later this year. Future plans for Ebode Homes include expansion across New Zealand. As Shaun says, “We’re intentionally building a scalable, franchisable model to expand nationwide.” House Slabs | Driveways & Patios | Cow Sheds & FarmWork | Pool Surrounds 027 512 2535 crookscretecontracting@gmail.com Waikato, New Zealand Crooks&Crete
