Taylored Group: Rothesay Bay DEVELOPMENT A business launched on April Fool’s Day has turned out to be anything but a joke, with managing directors and brothers Simon and Damien Taylor often saying luck has been on their side. It’s not only luck, though, that has led to the success of Taylored Group – rather, it’s the brothers’ extensive experience, coupled with an honest, friendly and professional approach to business. The strength of Taylored Group is built on a shared, decades-deep foundation. Simon and Damien each have over 20 years of development-management experience in highly complex projects. The brothers joined their father, Steve, at a prominent hotel and apartment development company before stepping away to focus on smaller, high-impact projects. “The apartment market has become tough, and ultimately Kiwis prefer their own piece of dirt,” Simon says. “We are now back doing what we love, in hands-on roles where we can apply our skills and passion, as well as being in control of our own destiny. We’ve replaced the industry’s suits, jargon and guesswork with straight talk and expert execution.” Taylored Group’s latest project, a 14-townhouse development in Rothesay Bay, has seen success in its early stages. Simon says he and his brother are big on process, with the project vision being a critical document that establishes everything from the target market to architecture, interiors, landscaping and branding. “Everything flows from that,” he says. “We were lucky with the timing when the land came up for sale, which allowed us to offer something different to the target market.” The development faces north on the top of the hill at Rothesay Bay, with water views up the coast. Each unit has its own street front, and is in walking distance to the Rothesay Bay shops, restaurants and cafes. The majority of the properties in the development are two-bedroom, two-bathroom, 70sqm homes, with a car park at the rear of the unit. The exterior cladding has a brick base with Weathertex timber cladding on the top section, which is factory-painted to prevent the need for maintenance staining, and comes with a 15-year warranty. “There are a lot of average townhouses out there: cookie-cutter homes in the middle of nowhere, where no one really wants to live,” Simon says. “Rothesay Bay is a nice little community, and the site is everything you could want in a development.” Simon says the fact that a handful of the 14 properties were under contract or sold within a few weeks of starting the marketing campaign speaks to the fact that the development is attractive, even in a challenging market. The properties are also guaranteed under the Stamford Insurance warranty process and underwritten by Lloyd’s of London, offering peace of mind to clients on the purchase of their townhouse. “Our approach is simple: we create thoughtful, practical homes designed for how people really live,” Simon says. “We own the entire process from the first sketch to the final handover, ensuring every detail is done to a standard we’re proud of. For us, that comes down to three non-negotiable things: thoughtful design that just works, quality materials built to last, and a promise that’s always kept.” PROUDLY SUPPORTING TAYLORED GROUP AUCKLAND HUB
