Master Craft Construction BUILDING Master Craft Construction, led by East Auckland licensed builder Jared Banks, is hard at work reshaping one of the city’s most iconic waterfront destinations, the Promenade Building at Half Moon Bay Marina. The project, designed by Woodhams Meikle Zhan Architects, is transforming the marina’s front face into a modern, inviting hub with new canopies, joinery, and sleek architectural recast panels that complement the marina’s world-class facilities. “We’ve opened up the dining spaces with enclosed outdoor areas and a massive new canopy,” says Jared. “It’s a complex job working right on the waterfront, managing multiple tenancies, and coordinating a lot of moving parts but it’s coming together beautifully.” The redevelopment sits at the heart of Half Moon Bay’s North Pier, one of Auckland’s most desirable marine locations. With wide walkways, pristine berths, and sweeping Gulf views, the upgrade is designed to enhance both the look and functionality of the area. Jared and his team have been putting in the big hours to meet their handover date, a hallmark of the company’s firsthand, quality-driven approach. Established in 2014, Master Craft Construction offers a full design and build service for architectural new builds, renovations, extensions, and reclads both residential and commercial. The 11-strong team based in East Auckland work citywide, covering South, West, and North Auckland. “We’re a smaller team of eleven offering personal owner-operator service. I’m still on the tools most days and the company has a reasonably extensive stock of tools, including our own aluminium scaffold,” says Jared. “That way we don’t have to hire much gear, and we take care of the entire build in house from foundations to finished product including hardscaping if required.” Another successful project from Master Craft Construction is a large-scale Remuera renovation that combines alteration, reclad, and extension work into a single complex build. The home sits on a tricky gully site with tight access, deep foundations, and heavy concrete ground beams plus in-ground swimming pool. “An architectural build and sizable extension, overlooking a nice bit of native bush. Which you wouldn’t pick in Remuera.” Licensed Building Practitioner and Registered Master Builder, the construction firm specialise in challenging and complex architectural projects. “We enjoy a challenge and building bespoke homes that are both beautiful and structurally robust.” That commitment has earned Master Craft Construction two Master Builders Regional Awards so far. The most recent was in 2023 for The Parade — a Bucklands Beach beachfront home which won House of the Year in $1.5-$2m category plus Top 100 and Gold Awards. Featuring a striking exterior mix of Litecrete concrete panel, steel, and timber, the 271 sq. metre three-bedroom, three-bathroom home is across two levels.
