Terra Group: KeriKeri Road Subdivision DEVELOPMENT The attractions of the Far North for new residents and holiday-makers have seen Auckland-based Terra Group developing six hectares of retired orchard land for a 25lot rural-residential subdivision near Kerikeri. The development’s lots are large, around 2000sqm, in a rural living zone as approved by the Far North District Council, and sit on a site two kilometres south-east of the township on Kerikeri Road. Terra Group, a multi-disciplinary consultancy company, has completed a vast range of residential subdivision projects since its founding in 2002 by the late Mark Kearney. The group took up the challenge for the Kerikeri Road development from land-owner 443K Ltd in 2023, and went on to complete the civil works, which involved shifting 17,000 cubic metres of cut-to-fill over 2.8 ha. The development represents the growing attraction of the Far North, especially to retirees, but also to people wanting a laid-back lifestyle. Terra Group offers a wide range of development-related services, including the planning, analysis, design and implementation of infrastructural and land development projects. Its expertise includes project management, planning, surveying, structural engineering, construction and civil engineering, land development, urban design and architecture – among others. Services range from planning and urban design through surveying, civil and traffic engineering and project management, to architecture, structural engineering, land development, and construction supervision. Clients for projects large and small have included local authorities, local businesses and multinational companies, and its trans-disciplinary departments combine the work of experts from its various disciplines to approach a common goal. Terra Group has also nurtured and developed strong relationships with educational and research facilities in the Auckland region. Founder Mark Kearney’s vision was to develop community environments in which people were excited to live, and with a civil and structural engineering background, he launched what became the Terra Group from the front seat of his car. A wholly New Zealand- and Maori-owned business, Terra Group expanded into Northland in 2005 and Hamilton in 2016, then in 2023 across the seas into Perth, London and Quebec under the Terra Analytics brand, and the following year into China. Today, Terra Group is run by Mark’s son Shaun Kearney, who joined the company in 2010 from a background similar to his father’s, and they worked together towards the same vision until Mark’s passing in 2022. Shaun serves as managing director and is CI V I L CONSTRUCT ION 09 955 4778 | WWW. KCL-CI V I LCONSTRUCT ION .CO. NZ committed to continue turning his father’s dream into reality. Nearly 25 years on since its founding, Terra Group has established itself as one of the best-qualified and most versatile companies in the competitive world of land development here and overseas.
