After more than 26 years in the building industry, including 20 years running his own business, Aaron Bates made the decision around 2015 to focus solely on foundations. At the time there was a clear gap in the market for specialist providers in the region. Their clients range from housing companies and local builders through to private homeowners and shed companies. For many builders foundations aren’t something they do every day. Clients also deal directly with Aaron throughout the process, from quoting through to delivery, giving them confidence and consistency across every stage of the job. AB Foundations is a family-run business. Aaron’s wife Julie joined two years ago and now manages administration, HR, finances and marketing, while also helping shape the direction of the business behind the scenes. “Clients deal directly with Aaron from start to finish which gives them confidence. They know exactly who they’re dealing with and that nothing gets missed,” she says. Health and safety is a core focus, with the business maintaining high standards across all sites and holding a SiteWise Gold certification. Most of the company’s work comes from repeat clients and referrals, reflecting the trust they’ve built within the industry. “At the end of the day, our job is to make things easier for the builder coming in after us,” says Aaron. “They can get on with the rest of the job knowing the foundations are done properly and everything will run smoother.”
