CIVIL CONSTRUCTION Colquhoun Construction Debbie says operations manager Jamie Colquhoun is very passionate about training and mentoring everyone to support them to grow. “Civil construction covers a whole gamut of activities, each one demanding its own skills and aptitudes.“ She says it’s inspiring to see those new to the sector flourish under the guidance of Jamie, Greg and other skilled professionals. “Jamie’s been responsible for delivering a large number of very complex, dynamic, projects to fruition throughout New Zealand, while our general manager, Greg Watters, also brings an extensive wealth of knowledge to the table, so we’re very well positioned to take on a wide array of projects, or to partner with others in project delivery.” Debbie says there’s nothing more gratifying than driving past a project she or her team has played a part in creating, knowing that it’s bringing real benefits to the community. “That’s why I love being in construction. “It’s real and changes the quality of life for people in long-lasting ways.” Colquhoun Construction has been actively involved in the O’Mahurangi Penlink project since the tender in 2022. Skilled teams have undertaken a variety of works, including, setting up erosion and sediment control devices, specialised detailed earthworks, construction of MSE wall and pavement construction. Work will also soon be starting in Waihi on expansion of the mine, and Debbie says she’s feeling quietly optimistic about more major projects coming on stream in and around Auckland/Northland in the not too distant future.
