62 | New facility provides ‘ultimate efficiency’ FLSSH provides portable toilets, portable showers, bulk waste removal and commercial cleaning, delivering services from Whangārei to Wellington. FLSSH - Aetna Place Development T T Karen Phelps “This development will be good for West Auckland and provide more opportunities for employment and hopefully attract more people to become part of our team,” DEVELOPMENT FLSSH is expanding its footprint and growing its team as it prepares to operate from a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility in Aetna Place, West Auckland. The company, New Zealand’s leading mobile sanitation specialist, has combined rapid organic growth with the strategic acquisition of KiwiFlush, giving it the largest range of portable toilets in the country. The leadership team, comprising Mike Boyens, general manager commercial, Stefan Covic, general manager of operations and Anthony Covic, general manager of sales, says the developments mark a major milestone in the organisation’s evolution. “The Aetna Place project is driven by growth and the need to have a base we own in the right geographical position,” says Stefan. “We’ve been able to heavily input into the development of the property to create a facility that we believe is among the best of its kind in the world” he says. “We have taken the best of everything we’ve seen around the world and incorporated it into this site. “This development will be good for West Auckland and provide more opportunities for employment and hopefully attract more people to become part of our team,” says Mike. The new facility will serve as the base for its upper North Island operations. Construction is about halfway through, with two of the three main buildings already completed. The leadership team undertook an international research trip to gather ideas, resulting in a highly efficient and sustainable layout. Rainwater harvesting, solar power capability and a fully sealed concrete yard will significantly reduce reliance on municipal water supplies, reduce energy use from the grid and eliminate the need to re-clean units between storage and hire. “We’ve used years of experience and planned everything for ultimate efficiency,” says Anthony. The new base spans 10,000sqm, including 700sqm of warehousing, 300sqm of office space and a 500sqm canopy. Building 1 houses a staff area with a commercial kitchen, lunchroom, changing rooms, showers, toilets and an outdoor space, along with dry storage for consumables and an on-site vehicle and trailer workshop. Building 2 contains offices, boardrooms and collaborative workspaces. Building 3, due for completion in mid-2026, will feature a canopy with a waste-disposal area and dedicated unloading and cleaning zone. The remainder of the site is designed for storage, efficient workflow and high safety standards, with clear separation between pedestrian and machine-operated areas. “We’ve set this facility up not only for business growth but to be a home away from home for our team,” says Mike. As a family-owned business with multiple families working within it, the company places strong emphasis on staff wellbeing, providing breakfast for team members, access to a cafeteria and modern facilities designed for comfort and productivity. The team ranges from 50 to 70 people depending on the season. The company’s growth has also been fuelled by the acquisition of KiwiFlush on 1 October. “It’s gone very smoothly so far and been well received by customers,” says Anthony. “It’s increased our business by about 20% and brought diversity in terms of equipment and customer base. Portable toilets come in a range of form factors and variations and with this acquisition we now have the largest range of portable toilets in New Zealand.” FLSSH provides portable toilets, portable showers, bulk waste removal and commercial cleaning, delivering services from Whangārei to Wellington. It operates similar facilities in Papakura, Wellington and Tauranga and is preparing to expand into the South Island within the next 18 months. “We have aggressive growth plans,” explains Stefan. “The Aetna Place facility sets the blueprint for what’s needed around the country.” WESTPOINT EARTHOVING Your one-stop shop for comprehensive earthmoving and retaining wall solutions.
