110 | Podlife T T Karen Phelps Tiny homes, multiple ownership options Podlife, has established itself as one of New Zealand’s most trusted names in transportable housing. “People like knowing exactly what it will cost when they sign their contract. It’s a fast, efficient process.” BUILDING Marking a decade of operation this year, the family-owned tiny home company, Podlife, has established itself as one of New Zealand’s most trusted names in transportable housing, winning the Most Trusted Business Awards in its category every year since the awards began. “We really stand by our products and look after our clients. We are very open about the whole process. We genuinely want people to enjoy the experience, knowing we take care of everything for them,” says Ahna Brownlee, one of the directors of Podlife. The company began in 2016 when Ahna and her husband James, a builder by trade, decided to move on from their shed-building business and focus on transportable homes. At that time, few companies in New Zealand were offering these solutions. “We’ve really seen transportable buildings grow in popularity over the years,” says Ahna. “And Podlife’s growth has mirrored these changes in the housing market as traditional builds have become increasingly expensive, while transportable homes provide a more accessible, flexible option. “Initially popular as a stepping stone for parents helping their children into independent living, pods have now become a mainstream solution. People like knowing exactly what it will cost when they sign their contract. It’s a fast, efficient process.” She says the company prides itself on quality and attention to detail. Every pod is 100% New Zealand made, and built in Podlife’s factory, allowing for rapid construction without the delays often caused by weather. Some units are even kept readybuilt in stock for immediate delivery. All pods are compliant buildings when they come off the production line and are delivered to site complete. Ahna says Podlife’s homes are designed to feel like permanent residences, rather than temporary structures, and over the last decade the company has refined its designs. It also offers customisation, including internal module configurations and accessibility options, such as wheelchair access. An in-house drafting team guides clients through the process, ensuring each pod meets individual needs. The range of options is extensive. Pods come in sizes from compact 6.2m x 3.1m studios to larger 14.5m x 4.5m family homes, with one-, two-, or three-bedroom layouts. Each unit is double-glazed, fully insulated and built to the latest New Zealand standards. Ahna says that for many Kiwis, a pod represents a path to home ownership without the stress of a large deposit or a long-term mortgage. Others see it as a bach, an Airbnb investment, a downsizing solution for a simpler, de-cluttered lifestyle, or a permanent three-bedroom home. Podlife also offers rental options, with pods available across the Bay of Plenty from as little as $125 a week. Ahna says these are suitable for work or leisure, giving individuals, families and businesses flexible, affordable space solutions. As a family-run business, she says reputation is at the heart of Podlife’s ethos. “Our reputation is everything to us. This commitment is reflected in the care taken at every stage, from the first enquiry to the final delivery.” With 10 years of experience, a reputation for quality, and a commitment to customer satisfaction, she says Podlife has become a trusted partner for Kiwis seeking a practical, stylish, and affordable housing solution. “It’s a real achievement and milestone to reach our 10-year anniversary, and we’re proud that we can help make the dream come true for anyone seeking the freedom of their own home.” Proudly supporting Podlife bryan@harbourviewelectrical.co.nz 0274 36 39 54  General Electrical Repairs and Maintenance  New Connections  New Houses and Alterations  Commercial Electrical - New and Alterations  Air Conditioning and Ventilation Systems  Data Network Installations  Solar Installs FOR ALL YOUR BUILDING SUPPLIES FLOW PLUMBING WHAKATANE’S PROFESSIONAL PLUMBERS, GASFITTERS, CIVIL AND DRAINLAYERS Delivering reliable, high-quality solutions for residential, commercial & rural projects.
