Landmark Homes Eastern Bay of Plenty and Rotorua T T Anne Boswell “Landmark Homes is quite unique in that there is a lot of flexibility with house plans.” BUILDING For nearly five decades, Landmark Homes has been synonymous with quality, design and customer focus in New Zealand’s building industry. Established in Tauranga in 1977 by Paul and Debbie Clarke, Landmark is one of the country’s longest-standing group builders. Today, while the Clarkes remain involved at board level, the company’s success is carried forward through its nationwide network of locally owned-and-operated franchises. For Edward Hardie and his team at Landmark Homes Eastern Bay of Plenty and Rotorua, that model offers clients the best of both worlds. “We get the benefit of both the group-building aspect – incorporating national marketing, key suppliers and good group discounts that enable us to stay competitive in the market – with the personal touch of a locally owned and operated branch,” Edward says. That balance is central to Landmark’s philosophy. While homeowners can select from an extensive range of 110 architecturally designed house plans, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Flexibility is a defining feature. “Landmark Homes is quite unique in that there is a lot of flexibility with house plans,” Edward says. “In our area, I’d say there is a 50/50 split between clients who build homes based on one of these designs, and those for which we have completed a completely custom-designed-and- built home. In saying that, around 70% of people who use the Landmark Homes plans personalise them to suit their requirements.” Many clients arrive with an idea or vision, and Edward’s team works to ensure that vision translates into a home that suits the client’s site, lifestyle and budget. Whether it’s a beach house at Ohope, a rural retreat in Opotiki or a contemporary home in Whakatane or Rotorua, no two Landmark builds are alike. At the core of the company are values that have stood the test of time: excellence, integrity, teamwork and relationships. These principles underpin every stage of the building journey, from concept to handover. “We take pride in the houses that we hand over,” Edward says. “We take care to create something special. There is a great buzz when we hand over a house, and the client has been part of that process and concept.” That commitment to quality has earned recognition. In 2024, Landmark Homes Eastern Bay of Plenty and Rotorua entered the Master Builders House of the Year competition for the first time, achieving a Gold Award in the Carters New Home $1 million - $1.5 million category for a home they built at Waiotahe. Buoyed by the success, Edward says the team plans to enter additional homes next year. Efficiency and design are also hallmarks of a Landmark Homes build. With an emphasis on cost-effectiveness, sustainability and great architectural outcomes, every Landmark home is crafted to a high standard. Or, as Edward says: “We say every Landmark home is a show home; we could happily take you through any of the homes we’ve built.” Total Residential & Commercial Door Solutions Bay of Plenty and Waikato Wide Specialising in Wooden Interior Doors, Pre-hung Doors, Cavity Sliders, Exterior Doors, Barn Doors, Door Hardware and Accessories, Wardrobe Systems and House Lots.
