T T Sue Russell Bare Acre Builders was established by Jeremy Eulink in 2017, after he returned to New Zealand following time working in the United Kingdom. Based at Te Miro, near Cambridge, Jeremy spent the first few years operating as a building contractor, working alongside other builders on a wide range of residential projects. Over the years he has been involved in everything from renovations and extensions through to high-end architectural homes and a number of award-winning builds. That experience gave Jeremy a strong grounding in the level of workmanship and attention to detail required on more complex residential projects. The move into taking on his own projects eventually happened fairly naturally. “I’d been contracting for other builders for quite a few years and started having people approach me asking if I’d take on their projects myself. It really just grew from there. I never started out with a big plan to build a large company.” Today, Jeremy remains on the tools while managing Bare Acre Builders and working alongside a trusted team of tradies and contractors. “I still really enjoy being on the tools and involved in the actual building. It means I can stay across the details and make sure things are being done the way I want them done.” Most recently, the company’s main focus has been a substantial new home under construction on Horrell Road, near Morrinsville. Jeremy became involved with the client during the design stage, before construction began on site in April. The approximately 460sqm architectural home, designed by LAD Architecture, is made up of three main gabled wings, with extensive glazing making the most of its rural setting and views towards Mt Te Aroha. One of the home’s standout features is an approximately 11-metre-wide opening made up of large sliding doors, creating a strong connection between the interior and outdoor living areas. A separate 100sqm pool house, extensive schist work and landscaping will eventually complete the property, with the various elements designed to work together across the wider site. “It’s a big house and there’s a lot of detail involved. The 11-metre opening is pretty impressive, and once all the cedar, schist and landscaping come together I think the whole place is going to look pretty special,” says Jeremy. By mid-August, the roof was on, the rigid air barrier was complete and the majority of the windows and glazing were installed. Work was focused inside the home, getting it ready for subcontractors before the team moved back outside to begin the cladding. The exterior will feature extensive Western Red Cedar alongside schist, with considerable attention being given to the junctions and smaller details throughout the build. Jeremy says a project of this size comes with plenty of challenges, but that is also what makes it enjoyable to build. “There’s a lot going on and plenty of details to work through, but that’s the sort of building I enjoy. You’re always thinking ahead and working through how everything is going to come together.” That attention to detail is something Jeremy has carried through from his years working on high-end homes and is an important part of how Bare Acre Builders approaches its projects. While the Horrell Road home is currently the company’s main focus, Bare Acre Builders works across the residential sector throughout Cambridge and the wider Waikato, including architectural new homes, renovations and extensions. Jeremy enjoys being involved throughout the construction process and working closely with clients to turn what is shown on the plans into a finished home. “There are a lot of decisions that have to come together during a build, particularly on a house with this much detail. I like being involved in that process and making sure the finished result is something everyone involved can be proud of.” 027 287 9664 Earthworks & Civil Contractors www.titaniumdevelopments.co.nz Proud to be selected to work on this stunning home
