JRL Electrical CONTRACTING JRL Electrical is strengthening its presence across Christchurch and Canterbury with the launch of a dedicated servicing division aimed at delivering faster response times, streamlined pricing, and ongoing support for both residential and commercial customers. The fast-growing electrical and HVAC specialist, established just three years ago, has built its reputation on large-scale housing developments, commercial work, heat pumps, air-conditioning, solar installations, and lighting solutions. Now, director Jason Smith says the company is investing in the systems and people needed to meet rising demand for maintenance, upgrades, and retrofit work. Jason says the new division will handle everything from homeowner electrical improvements to commercial heat pump servicing, solar retrofits, and ducted system maintenance. “We want to be able to respond quickly,” Jason says. “If someone calls, we aim to get back to them the same day, and in many cases we can price the job straight away.” The move reflects a maturing business that has expanded rapidly since Jason and fellow director Ray Harrison re-launched together after previously running a company that demanded punishing hours. After they sold their earlier venture, the opportunity arose to start again, and they were determined to build something different. “We had young families and we didn’t want to go back to 70- or 80-hour weeks,” Jason Life just got even more comfortable. Jason says each director brings a different strength, from sales and growth with Ray, through to financial oversight with Jason, and staff leadership with Lawrence, giving the company balance as it scales. Support from trade-focused coaching group Profitable Tradie has also helped JRL Electrical sharpen its internal processes. With a dedicated administrator and estimator now in place, the leadership team has refined its focus on business development. The servicing division is expected to play a key role in upcoming recruitment, with more technicians likely to be added. Jason says long-term success will increasingly come from repeat customers and providing reliable after-installation support.
