T T Kelly Deeks Twenty-five years after starting as a small interior plastering business, Todd Mudie Group (TMG) has grown into one of South Canterbury’s most established multi-trade operations, supporting builders, developers, homeowners, and commercial clients across the region. Marketing manager, Braden Hopkins, says the company’s continued growth has been built on strong relationships, quality workmanship, and a commitment to delivering multiple services under one roof. Today, TMG operates across South Canterbury, the Mackenzie District, and North Otago, providing interior plastering, painting, tiling, flooring, exterior plastering, renovations, alterations, and coordinated multi-trade solutions. “The Mackenzie Country has been a significant growth area for us over recent years,” Braden says. “Twizel continues to expand, and while Tekapo is becoming more established, there is still strong demand throughout the region. Those areas have helped create consistent opportunities for our team, particularly through holiday home developments, accommodation projects, and residential construction.” Closer to home, TMG is also seeing continued activity across Timaru, Temuka, and surrounding areas as new subdivisions and residential developments come online. One of the company’s key strengths is its ability to coordinate multiple trades through a single business, simplifying the construction process for builders and homeowners alike. “Traditionally, builders need to manage numerous subcontractors throughout a project,” Braden says. “We can provide several specialist trades through one team, which creates efficiencies, improves communication, and helps projects move more smoothly from one stage to the next.” Supporting this approach is TMG’s Operations Hub, a centralised system that manages scheduling, communication, project tracking, and client support across the business. “The Operations Hub helps ensure everyone involved in a project has access to the information they need, when they need it,” Braden says. “It strengthens communication between our teams, our builder partners, suppliers, and clients, helping us deliver a more seamless experience from start to finish.” The business recently celebrated 25 years since founder Todd Mudie established the company as an interior plastering operation in South Canterbury. Over the years, TMG has expanded significantly, growing into a team of more than 50 skilled professionals, while building long-standing relationships with builders, suppliers, and clients throughout the region. Alongside its commercial and residential work, TMG is also actively involved in supporting local communities through sponsorships, charitable initiatives, and partnerships across South Canterbury, the Mackenzie District, and North Otago. Looking ahead, the company is continuing to invest in technology, systems, and innovation to support future growth. “We’re always looking for ways to improve how we operate and how we support our clients and team,” says Braden. “Technology is helping us streamline processes, improve visibility across projects, and create even better experiences for everyone involved.” After 25 years in business, Todd Mudie Group remains focused on the values that have driven its success from the beginning – quality workmanship, strong relationships, clear communication, and a commitment to supporting the communities it serves. “We can provide several specialist trades through one team, which creates efficiencies, improves communication, and helps projects move more smoothly from one stage to the next.”
