Founded by KJ Andersen and Ian Seymour, Lifestyle Builds has found a niche in the market, offering shed homes designed for rural and lifestyle properties. The concept is simple, but the design is unique: they have kept the high-quality, warm timber framing that makes a home, while using cost-effective steel framing for the garaging and shed —the result, a home that fits requirements across the board, without the price tag. What sets Lifestyle Builds apart isn’t just the product, it’s the people behind it. KJ brings construction project management expertise, while Ian is a qualified builder who oversees the craft, quality and finishing of every project. Their partners, Robyn Andersen and Zoe McBride, work within the business, making it a family-run operation. A steady increase in work has fostered growth in the team, allowing multiple projects to run simultaneously, whilst maintaining quality. Lifestyle Builds prioritises the client from the very first conversation. But he is clear that cost-effectiveness never means cutting corners. “For many clients, the shed space is as important as the home itself, serving as storage for farm equipment, vehicles, boats and workshop space,” he says. The shed space can be tailored to suit different requirements, with shed door heights ranging from 2.1 to 3.6 metres and options for patios, carports and additional shed bays. The team has built in a range of conditions, including high wind zones, flood hazard areas, seismic zones, snow zones and challenging sections. KJ says designing for a rural build is about more than the footprint of the house.
