102 | Hands-on business can handle anything Ashburton is seeing steady growth, with plenty of new subdivisions and lifestyle blocks popping up in the area, and a strong renovation market BUILDING T T Rosa Watson Street Construction Feeling that it was the right time, Jason Street, owner of Ashburton-based construction firm Street Construction, Jason Street, took the plunge to start the business early in 2025, and it has been a strong first year. “Street Construction was really born out of a desire to take the skills and standards I’ve built over the years and apply them to projects where I could have full control over the workmanship, communication, and client experience,” Jason says.. “I’d reached a point where I felt confident in my ability not just to build, but to run jobs, manage clients, and coordinate the full process from start to finish. “This year (2025) felt like the right time because there’s strong demand in the Ashburton area, and I saw a real opportunity to create a business that focuses on quality, reliability, and clear communication.” Jason brings 12 years’ experience to the business, having completed his apprenticeship locally and working with a range of builders. During that time, he was involved in a wide range of projects, ranging from architectural new builds to renovations and light commercial builds. “That background gave me exposure to different building styles, project scales, and management systems,” he says. Jason says Ashburton is seeing steady growth, with plenty of new subdivisions and lifestyle blocks popping up in the area, and a strong renovation market as homeowners upgrade older properties. He is also seeing plenty of demand for practical, high-quality family homes. “Street Construction fits into that space by offering residential new builds, architectural homes for clients wanting higher-end detail, renovations and extensions. “Because we’re a smaller, hands-on company, we can be flexible, taking on anything from a bathroom renovation right through to a full new-home build.” The firm has developed strong relationships with a number of local businesses able to fully supply the team in a timely manner to get projects underway and completed. Reflecting on the first year of business, Jason says it has been hugely positive, with highlights including taking on the first new build under the Street Construction name, building a strong network of subcontractors and suppliers, and meeting new clients. “We’ve completed multiple bathroom renovations this year, (and) a big renovation transforming a family home, opening up the living and kitchen area, adding a butler’s pantry, renovating the main bathroom, laundry area and hallway.” He says some challenges have been managing workloads and scheduling as a new business, and balancing “time on the tools” with the administration of running a company. Jason has a 220sqm new build underway and two large projects taking the firm well into the New Year, as well as a mixture of renovations lined up. For Jason, no job is too big or too small for the firm to take on. “All projects help us grow in the new-build and renovation game.” “We’ve completed multiple bathroom renovations this year, (and) a big renovation transforming a family home, opening up the living and kitchen area, adding a butler’s pantry, renovating the main bathroom, laundry area and hallway.” 027 866 6534 | jason@streetconstruction.co.nz • Alterations and renovations • Decks and fences • Residential full builds (design & build, construction) STREET CONSTRUCTION Ltd.
