Kara Transport REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT In an industry dominated by large corporate companies with national networks and vast resources, Dunedin-based Kara Transport is proving there is still room for small, whanaurun businesses to succeed through hard work, personalised service, and an unshakable commitment to quality. Owned and operated by Corey and Jen Kara, Kara Transport is now coming up to five years in business, having grown from humble beginnings into a trusted freight provider servicing Otago, Central Otago and increasingly, Southland. Prior to Covid-19, Corey was contracting for 15 years. A change in direction at the start of Covid saw the beginning of a new journey with the Kara whanau going out on their own and rebranding as Kara Transport. Kara Transport specialises in freight solutions for the major steel and engineering companies in Dunedin, focusing on direct delivery to limit the need to double-handle freight. “One thing that is important to us is a high level of customer service,” Corey says. “We talk directly to our clients to ascertain what they need, and when they need it.” Operating out of Dunedin, the company services a wide area from Central Otago through to the outskirts of Southland. Now, Corey says the team is focusing on its Southland growth, gradually expanding its footprint, and reinforcing the main trunk line between Dunedin and key clients in Central Otago. “We service areas on the outskirts of Southland, and we are now starting to do more. It has taken time, but that is how you grow, by showing up, doing the job right, and building that trust.” Corey says that growth in the transport industry comes with fierce competition, Kara Transport’s strengths lies in its flexibility and responsiveness. “We don’t pretend to be a big outfit, but we do promise a high level of service. That is what has helped us build a solid client base.” With five years under its belt this July, Kara Transport is now focused on consolidating its position, strengthening client relationships, and growing sustainably. “We’re not just moving freight, we’re helping projects stay on track and businesses keep running,” Corey says. With a dedicated team, and deep local knowledge, Kara Transport is a reliable partner in freight across the lower South Island. “We don’t pretend to be a big outfit, but we do promise a high level of service. That is what has helped us build a solid client base.” Talk to us today, the feature profile experts Phone: 03 983 5500 waterfordpress.co.nz PROFILE YOUR PROJECT... admin@allans.co.nz 0800 255 267 / 03 4777 909 www.allans.co.nz FOR THE BEST IN METAL Complete Sheetmetal Manufacturing: delivering design, fabrication & installation Otago’s Plate Cutting Specialist Now Laser Cutting • Mild Steel • Stainless Steel • Aluminium www.precisionprofile.co.nz | 03 477 7277 | sales@precisionprofile.co.nz | 12 Birch St. Dunedin
