If we say we’re going to be there, we turn up.” CONTRACTING Dunedin-based iPlumb Plumbing & Gas doesn’t do things by halves, and if there’s a big project coming up in the city, there’s a good chance the team will be involved. Whether it’s installing designer bathrooms for some of the city’s most exclusive properties, or restoring heritage buildings to their former glory, Matt Maley and the team are right amongst it. One of the latest projects they are involved in is a new pizza and pasta restaurant in Dunedin – set to become one of the biggest eating establishments in the city. All the plumbing, drainage and gas-fitting work for the large commercial kitchen is being carried out by iPlumb, whilst nearby, on the iconic Bath Street, the team has major work on a heritage building underway. The team also worked on the city’s most expensive home, which was built on Maori Hill and recently sold for $6.5 million. Built by JJ Oskam Builders and designed by Mason and Wales, the property required plumbing, drainage work, gas fitting and filter replacements, as well as installing stunning features in each of the three bathrooms. Matt says seeing the one-tonne bathtub craned in was a highlight of the project, as they had to take out bathroom windows just to get it inside. iPlumb has many points of difference, including finding alternative solutions to create better outcomes, and the high level of care that staff bring to every job. “We don’t do anything by halves, and we never let anyone down. If we say we’re going to be there, we turn up,” says Matt. A business built up over 10 years, iPlumb operates with an ethos based on safety, transparency and teamwork. Matt recently moved the business from Dunedin to Mosgiel, where he employs a team of seven that can tackle a wide range of jobs, and at different levels of difficulty. “We train quality apprentices because of the wide scope they are subjected to,” he says. Dunedin is likely to always offer plenty of variety in the plumbing industry, because of how the old city has been built, and its wide range of buildings and houses. Following Covid-19, Matt invested a lot of time building a strong social media presence, and went on to help other businesses with theirs. With over 2.7k followers, iPlumb creates and shares stories that keep clients interested and wanting to come back.
