They’ve been to some amazing places - one that stands out is a three-pool complex at a multi-million-dollar house build near Glenorchy, and the company won the Pool of the Year award for their impressive cantilevered pool in Kelvin Heights. Brandon has taken over the reins and now leads custom pool construction, whilst his father has taken a step back and serves as a consultant - their staff handle pool construction building, technician and valet duties. The team specialise in the design and construction of bespoke premium fibreglass swimming pools, tailored to the client’s unique requirements - from basic models through to hih specification designs. From initial design concepts through to completed construction, the pools are constructed using Mayfair Pools’ patented building method, which combines a solid concrete base with fully insulated walls and a high‑performance fibreglass surface. “The work that goes into one, compared to just those that are put straight into the ground is quite significant,” Brandon said. The level of complexity has changed over time, with pools and spas able to be created in almost every landscape, and with a range of infinity pools which run like a natural water feature, lighting and jet options. Everything from tiling to plumbing, electrical work and water proofing - pools all require ongoing specialized servicing. “Our partnership with the experienced professionals at Hot Water Heat Pumps & Covers 4 Pools Ltd has been instrumental to our success, thanks to their expertise in covers and heating solutions.” Brandon is a driller by trade and also worked in the horticulture industry, before moving back to home after to help his father with the business. “Pools are a lot more economical now, with insulated panels and pipes, and chlorine feeders, but more people are going for salt and magnesium so they are more therapeutic.” The differences in costs come with adding the extra features, such as waterfalls, infinity edges, heat pumps and remote systems that can automatically operate the entire filtration and heating. Over the past 10 years the business has installed on average 8 to 10 new pools per year in the lower South Island, but the industry is picking up and already this year they have completed 4 in the Queenstown lakes area alone.
