T T Karen Phelps A new collection of architecturally designed townhouses in Addington is offering buyers the chance to secure a brand-new home close to Christchurch’s city centre, with the first properties at 106 Brougham Street now released to the market and expected to be ready to move into before Christmas. Developed by Nest Corp, the Brougham Street project comprises a mix of two- and three-bedroom freehold townhouses, designed to provide modern, low-maintenance living in a central location. “It is exciting to have these homes now released to the market with buyers able to see what the development offers and secure a home ahead of completion,” says Godwin Charles, director of Nest Corp. The development includes two-bedroom, one-bathroom homes of around 74sqm, as well as larger, two-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouses of approximately 78sqm. A three-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouse at 2/106 Brougham Street provides 116sqm of living space along with an internal-access single garage. Across the development, the homes feature open-plan living areas, designer kitchens with stone bench tops and stainless-steel appliances, tiled bathrooms with frameless glass showers and private courtyards. The larger townhouses also include ensuites, while the three-bedroom home combines additional living space with an internal-access garage. Godwin says storage was also an important consideration in the design, particularly given the compact nature of townhouse living. “We wanted to create homes that feel practical as well as stylish with features that make a difference to everyday living,” he says. All of the homes have been built to the latest building standards, with energy-efficient construction intended to provide warm, dry and comfortable interiors and keep ongoing maintenance requirements low. The location is another key attraction, with the development providing easy access to Christchurch’s central city and surrounding amenities. The project reflects Nest Corp’s wider focus on creating homes for first-home buyers, investors and others looking for contemporary, low-maintenance properties. The company was founded in 2019 by Godwin and fellow director, Stephen Prabhakaran, initially as a small property development venture based on a shared interest in developing land and building homes. While Godwin is based in Christchurch and oversees projects in the region, Stephen lives in Palmerston North and leads the company’s developments there. Nest Corp has already completed a boutique six-townhouse development at 43 Bourke Street in Palmerston North, offering a mix of two- and three-bedroom homes. The company is now looking ahead to further growth in Christchurch with another project planned for 111 Jerrold Street North. The development will comprise eight three-bedroom townhouses, each designed for compact urban living with features including ensuites, open-plan layouts, heat pumps, low-maintenance outdoor areas and internal-access garages. Nest Corp is currently working through the building consent process. Another significant Christchurch project is planned for Bordesley Street in Phillipstown, near the new stadium. The development will comprise 16 homes, including a mix of standalone and duplex properties with pricing aimed at helping first-home buyers enter the property market. “We are also looking at different opportunities for land development and standalone houses as well,” says Godwin.
