By offering a wide range of events, including the annual duck race, meet your neighbour night and quiz nights, they have encouraged the fostering of connections that are transforming Silverstream from a collection of houses to a genuine neighbourhood. In 2020, Lime Developments started developing The Sterling, Kaiapoi retirement village in the heart of Silverstream, which represents the next evolution of the company’s vision. “Lime Developments’ vision was always to have an intergenerational approach, so the retirement village enhances this by being open, without fences or gates closing at 9pm, to encourage one big integrated community,” says Andréa. Currently under construction, The Sterling, Kaiapoi’s new clubhouse and wellness centre promises to elevate village life for residents. The premium facility will include a swimming pool, library and cinema for its residents, and a bar and café that will be open to the public. Of the 11 planned villa stages, six are now complete, with stage 7 well underway. Each architecturally designed villa supports independent living, and features ducted heating, fully tiled bathrooms, and separate laundries, which are all designed to maximise both natural light and privacy.
