DAIRY SERVICES » Milkio Foods Major steps on the international stage Karen Phelps Hamilton-based Milkio Foods is marking its tenth anniversary this year with a series of bold steps on the international stage. The company, founded in 2016, recently showcased its full range of ghee and butter at Gulfood 2026 in Dubai, one of the world’s leading food and beverage trade events. “Consumer demand has shifted strongly toward grass-fed, clean-label, high-nutrition, natural dairy fats and Milkio Foods’ products directly address this trend,” says Rajesh Chatterjee, founder of Milkio Foods. “Ghee and butter with zero additives and versatility across keto, paleo, and traditional diets align closely with global preferences for healthier, functional, and provenance-driven dairy fats.” He says that it was a real coup to showcase the products at Gulfood, which has become the most influential platform for food exporters, with the Middle East ranking as a top market and one of the fastest-growing regions for dairy products. “Being at Gulfood allowed us to meet importers, distributors, retail buyers, and food service partners from across the region,” he says. “The biggest opportunity lies in the growing global awareness of the nutritional benefits of grass-fed dairy fats and the move away from processed oils toward natural alternatives like ghee and butter.” While demand continues to rise among health- conscious consumers, functional nutrition brands and food service operators, he says that maintaining stable pricing and supply in a volatile global dairy market remains the primary challenge. “Exporters must balance cost pressures while upholding product quality and sustainable sourcing,” he says. Adding to its strength Milkio Foods has appointed a new director, Graham Stuart, who brings decades of experience from key roles with Fonterra and as a current non-executive director of Ravensdown and Dairy Goat Cooperative. “He brings a lot of credibility, connections, and knowledge,” says Rajesh. “We are delighted to have such a well-respected person on board.” The company has recently expanded its product portfolio to include butter alongside its established ghee range. Rajesh says that Milkio Ghee has become a leading brand in South Korea and the company is shipping three to four container loads of Milkio Ghee in glass jars there every month. Milkio Foods has also commissioned a new butter patting machine to produce butter for contract manufacturing and has already dispatched three shipments to Egypt. Milkio’s offerings now include pure unsalted butter, lactic butter and a lactic buttery spread, all carefully batch-made to ensure consistency, flavour and texture. Unlike ghee, which has a high smoke point making it ideal for frying, sautéing and high-heat cooking, Rajesh says Milkio’s butter products are better suited to baking, sauces and low-to-medium heat culinary uses allowing the company to meet a broader range of culinary and consumer needs. Milkio Foods operates from Frankton, Hamilton, employing a team of 35 staff and exports to around 30 countries worldwide. Rajesh says it is recognised for its small-batch production methods, premium ingredients and rigorous traceability and quality assurance measures, including SQF Food Safety, Halal, Kosher and USFDA certifications. “Over the past decade, we’ve grown into a global name in the ghee industry, delivering products that combine flavour, health benefits and sustainability,” says Rajesh. “Our focus on quality ensures that every batch meets the highest international standards. We’re excited to take Milkio into new markets while continuing to innovate and uphold the values that have defined us since the beginning.” $! +,!. 0%+*/ /0. 0!#5 * 0. */"+.) 0%+* /,! % (%/0/Ȑ ˙.#+* Ȗ ˏ+ %/ ,.+1 0+ /1,,+.0 +.# *%/ 0%+*/ (%'! %('%+ 0+ 1*(+ ' )! *%*#"1( %),.+2!)!*0/ * /1/0 %* (! ,.+ 1 0%2%05 # %*/Ȑ L A W Y E R S Adding value, reducing risk, solving problems Senior commercial lawyers providing expert advice for business, property, and personal matters — from company formation to complex transactions. 021 740 105 rfyers@fyersjoyce.co.nz RICHARD FYERS 021 190 1192 pjoyce@fyersjoyce.co.nz PHILIP JOYCE Suite 10.1 Alberts 1 Albert street, Auckland ADDRESS www.fyersjoyce.co.nz Contributing to the success of the organisations we serve Structural Engineering | Civil Engineering | Architecture | Fire Design Stiles and Hooker is a leading Engineering and Architecture firm specialising in designing and constructing quality built environments.
