Karen Phelps Waikato dairy service provider Beta Milking is experiencing a period of strong growth, expanding both its team and service capabilities to better support farmers across the region. The Matamata-based business now employs four technicians, including two NZMPTA-qualified milking machine testers, double the number it had less than two years ago. This growth has enabled the company to take on more work and deliver a faster, more comprehensive service. Company co-owner Chrissy Burch says the company’s move to new premises at 10 Waharoa Road West around two years ago has played a key role in the expansion. “Having a visible presence in town has really helped us attract staff and build capability,” says Chrissy, who owns the business with her husband, Ziggy. “People can now walk into our one-stop shop for all their farming service and parts needs.” Beta Milking provides a full suite of services including new shed installations, retrofits, servicing, milking machine testing, milk cooling and custom fabrication. The company services all brands of dairy sheds and stocks a wide range of consumables including DeLaval dairy chemicals, teat spray, rubberware and general dairy supplies. Its offering also includes rubber matting and barn fixtures, Dosatron maintenance and water system solutions. More recently Beta Milking has strengthened its dealership network, securing Bovonic, an affordable and increasingly popular mastitis detection system, and WETIT automated teat spray solutions alongside its existing partnership with DeLaval. Growth has also been seen in the company’s water, pool and effluent services division. Beta Milking stocks a wide range of pumps, purification systems, hosing, fittings, tanks, hot water cylinders and pool care products. “This side of the business has really expanded,” says Chrissy. “We can now provide everything from supply through to installation, giving farmers a complete service package.” Investment in new equipment is supporting the company’s expansion with the recent purchase of a digger complementing the company’s existing trencher. Chrissy says this enables Beta Milking to undertake larger and more complex projects and deliver faster turnaround times across the Waikato. Despite the growth, Chrissy says service remains at the heart of the business. “It’s not just about selling products - having reliable local service is just as important. Our 24/7 technical support helps farmers resolve issues quickly and avoid costly downtime.” Founded in 2011, Beta Milking has steadily built its technical expertise and service offering.
