With over 15 years’ experience in the building industry, Aaron has transformed his passion into a successful business that now employs eight builders working on multiple projects simultaneously. “We just really love building. I dream about it. It’s a real passion and we are all enthusiastic about doing a great job and bringing old school building values into today combined with creativity and care,” says Aaron. The company’s expertise is particularly evident in heritage restoration work, where it specialises in reviving Wellington’s character homes such as replacing rotting weatherboards, windows and doors in villas. “We go in and renovate these homes and bring them back to what they should be,” explains Aaron. “We custom cut all pieces and handcraft items in our factory or on site, ensuring authentic restoration that preserves original character.” One standout project that exemplifies the company’s capabilities was a comprehensive house renovation in Eastbourne, undertaken in collaboration with David Robinson from Architecture Robinson Crimp. “The whole house was gutted and re-done,” says Aaron. “The architect was very creative and a lot of design elements he’s brought in are unusual such as a lot of plywood negative detail. It really demonstrated our crafts- manship. We had to get the house straight and laser all the lines to align everything nicely.” The project also featured a custom staggering staircase leading down to a river running underneath the house, where the team incorporated the original stone bridge while adding their own creative elements. “This project shows our ability to come up with alternative building solutions. That’s where we really excel.” The business operates across three distinct divisions: residential, commercial, and prestige projects. Recent work includes a three-level office fitout at 10 Hutt Road, demonstrating its versatility in handling commercial renovations. “We renovated the whole building working with multiple trades while navigating disruptions to existing tenants. We are now completing an internal renovation over three levels.” Success has necessitated expansion, with the company recently relocating to larger premises at 69 Eastern Hutt Road in Wingate, Lower Hutt. It’s a place to keep stock and tools and there is a large area for construction with offices in process. The new facility not only accommodates the construction business but also houses Aaron’s wife Anastasia’s venture The Grimoire, a New Zealand-wide bookstore specialising in limited edition books.
