| 105 T T Emma Bailey 13 Wallnutt Ave, Waihi Beach. A slice of paradise at Waihi Beach built by Suretrade Building Services has won a sweep of awards at the Master Builders 2026 House of the Year Awards for the Waikato region. The beautiful architecturally designed home won the Regional Category Award, Environmental and Sustainable Excellence Regional Lifestyle Award and a Gold Award. The home has also earned Suretrade a spot at the nationals, having been named in the top 100. The high-end home is the builders own, with Suretrade director Bruce Kirkbride lucky enough to have the keys to the front door. “We build a lot of beautiful houses for other people, so to get to walk in the front door everyday is amazing - it’s a slice of paradise.” “We designed the house to be super functional with super relaxed living. You move from the kitchen, dining and lounge out to the upstairs deck. Every aspect looks to the ocean.” From the garage, a lift enables weekend supplies to be transported up to the living areas with ease. Upstairs, the kitchen, dining and lounge flow lengthwise out to an entertainer’s deck with frameless glass balustrade for unimpeded views and a louvered roof and side for weather protection. “We wanted materials that made the house feel comfortable and liveable. The house is designed to feel calm and relaxed in its environment.” The home has a restful palette of white and oak. “Every beach house used to have a stainless steel bench top so we have incorporated that into the design too.” The high-end build goes up for sea views and has a subtle two-degree slice off the northern face to provide garage access for car and boat. The entire home has been built to minimise or maximise solar gain and is designed to reduce the impact of prevailing bad weather on outdoor living. Acoustics have been considered too with a concrete mid-floor minimising noise impact between levels. A slew of Master Builders Awards BUILDING Suretrade Building Services On the lower floor there are four bedrooms which are designed to be quiet with the use of discontinuous framing, noise-control insulation and solid-core doors. The main suite upstairs also enjoys these qualities, ensuring cool, restful sleep, with no annoying disturbance. The category they were in was the only one without a monetary restriction, so a $2million house could be competing against a $10 million house. Suretrade is a family business and covers the Waikato and the Coromandel. The team includes son Mitch as project manager and daughters Brooke and Taryn. They also have their own kitchen design business Acclaimed Kitchens. This build in particular was completed by Bruce, Mitch and son in law Caleb Building top end quality architectural homes is the Suretrade’s passion. “That is where the satisfaction is and we go the extra mile to get there, being a family business we all share the same passion,” Bruce said. “We don’t want to treat a home as a commodity; it is a personal statement from a client. We reward their flare by putting together a package they can be proud of.” The National Awards will be held in Auckland on November 21.
