106 | BUILDING Beck Building T T Virginia Wright Kittyhawk build. Beck Building Limited is a second-generation, family-owned building company established by current owner Jamie Beck’s father, Mike, in the early 1990s. Jamie was brought up on building sites alongside his father and, from an early age, never considered doing anything else. Over 25 years ago he completed his building apprenticeship with Beck Building Limited formalising the skills and knowledge he had gained throughout his childhood working alongside his father. Since taking over the business Jamie has continued the family tradition established by his father, with a strong emphasis on quality, craftsmanship and attention to detail. Beck Building’s reputation for delivering high-end residential homes and extensive renovations has continued to grow while the company also takes on the occasional more economic, mid-level home, where smart use of products and thoughtful detailing can elevate the result well above typical housing-company standards. For Jamie the focus on quality remains the same as it was when the company began. “The key for each build, whether or not we’re entering them into the House of the Year Awards, is to build them to Gold level standard. Every build is built as if it’s being judged, so our carpenters and the great team of sub-trades and suppliers are all on board to build the house to the highest level and to be at the top end of all the homes in New Zealand. Our motto is to build each house as if it was our own, so making sure every detail is what you’d want yourself,” Jamie explains. They may not enter every house into the Master Builders House of The Year Awards (HOTY) but when they do historically, as now, Jamie continues the family tradition 24 Hour service throughout Taupo and Turangi.
