Some interesting projects moving forward Property development kicked off a new chapter for Build Hawke’s Bay with its Marine Parade townhouses in 2025. Hayden Ross and Rachel Ward established their building business in Havelock North back in 2022, specialising in everything from new homes to large commercial projects. Nowadays, with property development in the mix, the company is looking at some interesting projects moving forward. With over 25 years experience both overseas and within the region, Hayden still plays a big part in the day-to-day work, remaining hands on the tools and giving everything full sign off for complete quality control. This gives clients peace of mind that their project is being completed by an expert from beginning to end. The couple have established great relationships with sub-contractors and were involved in a lot of rebuild work for communities following Cyclone Gabrielle in 2023. Their local knowledge and quick execution meant they could get people and businesses back on their feet and into their homes quickly. There was the refit of the local power station in Napier, and one of the projects that really touched their hearts was for a client who they had already rebuilt a home for after a devastating fire years earlier. They were back again for another rebuild after the floods ripped through the region and television presenter Matty McLean even showcased the project nationally on TVNZ Breakfast. The quickest way to make a name for yourself within the industry is to have your projects showcased on national television. But its their relationships with local sub- contractors that cements their reputation and has built integrity over the years. The company has even been involved with creating bespoke kitchens and gorgeous landscaping features such as poured concrete insitu outdoor areas, throughout the beautiful wine growing region. In 2024 they completed an 18-housing development in Hastings in just 10 months, and their work covers a wide range from largescale developments, right through to new fences, as well as renovations and repairs. As the Hawke’s Bay continues to rebuild and grow following several tough years of weather events, Build HB is playing a huge role in shaping and supporting the community it is a part of.
