Our offering is second-to-none.” Jud Eady, of Louvretec Bay of Plenty, says it’s no surprise the business has flourished in the past 25 years, putting its success down to beautifully crafted, well engineered, aesthetically outstanding technologies that transform otherwise exposed outdoor spaces, into functional, comfortable living spaces. Jud, along with his father Terence, established Louvretec Bay of Plenty in 2000, growing the business in size and reach over the ensuing years. His sister Lana is also involved, managing sales and design, so it is a real family affair. Today, Jud oversees a company that straddles the busy Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Hawke’s Bay and Wellington regions. Louvretec manufactures a wide range of environmental protection louvre systems, screens, shutters, opening/retracting roofs and frameless glass sliding doors. “Louvretec’s design flair and construction systems are at the forefront of the industry,” says Jud. “Louvretec have led the market in innovation and are never afraid to invest time and money into research and development. Our offering is second-to-none.” Case in point: the award-winning Spiral Pivot System, which incorporates an internal drive system so there are no unsightly tie rods on top. This, along with aesthetics, allows the louvres to rotate open right round to on top of themselves, which gives the operator the freedom to stop them at any position. The system can be motorised or hand-operated. “The spiral pivot system is compatible with our Airfoil, Rectangular and Balustrade Sun Louvre ranges, giving customers plenty of options to choose from, without disturbing the structures aesthetic. It’s what sets us apart.” The system’s adaptable motor placement means that all structural design configurations can be catered for. “We know people don’t want to see the mechanisms that turn the louvres or motorise the system, so we’ve designed these to fit into the drive system and not impact on the visual elegance of the structure,” Jud explains. He also says the sheer scale of options available to customers means that all budgets are catered for, without compromising on quality. By getting involved in the build early on with clients, their architects and builders, Louvretec can bring their expertise into the design conversation in ways that add real value to the project. In all, a team of 13 services the regions where Louvretec operates. Jud says he is confident that market conditions are pointing to an increase in business. ‘Our team is extremely dedicated and passionate about our product, which is why you would have to regard our install team as being at the top of their game – they really care about the finer details. “I still do a lot of the complicated projects and love to be part of the initial design/pricing stage right through to the finishing touches,” Jud says. “We have connections with builders we’ve had for the past 20-plus years. I’m also the installation manager, so there’s plenty to keep me busy.” Increasingly, home owners are seeking to create the full outdoor room to add to the existing footprint of their home. Expectations as to the quality, look and feel of these spaces are more sophisticated than they were 20 years ago. “People really seem to focus not just on the opening roof these days – they focus on the whole package. from frame/roof to enclosing the sides, which is why our sliding range of louvres, including frameless glass sliders, are extremely popular. “There is no doubt that when you add anything from the Louvretec range you are investing in quality that will last. This is where our know-how, the quality of our engineered products, our manufacturing and installation capability really come into their own.” Jud says he has the highest regard for his team, with designers capable of producing wonderful spaces for clients. “We’re a very proud company, and such is our traction in the market that our brand name is used to describe the opening roof. Real estate commentary often refers to ‘The Louvretec’ roof, referencing the quality of the product.” While based in Mt Maunganui, Jud says the company is making inroads into acquiring premises in Hamilton, from which to base its greater Waikato activity. “We can see real potential in this region coming through, and we’ll be setting up a base in Hamilton to meet foreseen demand.” Building creators who partner with their clients to deliver exceptional homes and better lifestyles.
