The company secured both a gold award and national category winner status in the CARTERS Commercial Project category for the complex three-level structure at Central Park, which serves as the nerve centre for KiwiRail’s operations across the region. “The B11/ARMC build was a collaboration between all parties – our amazing client, tenant, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers,” says Michael White, Macrennie’s managing director. “It was a complicated service heavy build, which required a high level of coordination between structure, architecture and services.” Macrennie was engaged through an early contractor involvement (ECI) process, allowing it to provide methodology planning, programming and cost advice during the project’s development phase. Michael says this collaborative approach, and trust from client Oyster Property, helped them identify and assist in solving potential cost and programme implications, and inclusion of Green Star requirements from the outset.
