The company, which he renamed Advanced Earthworks Limited, has more than tripled in size under his leadership, establishing itself as one of Northland’s premier earthworks and siteworks specialists. “It’s grown because people have got to know we have good equipment and do a high-quality, efficient job,” Arne says. “We strive to deliver every project with precision, efficiency and a personal touch. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that every job, big or small, is completed to the highest standards.” Arne has worked in machinery his entire career. After leaving school, he spent six years driving excavators and trucks before moving into sales of earthmoving equipment and farm machinery. This hands-on experience has proved invaluable in growing Advanced Earthworks. “We pride ourselves on being a locally owned-and-operated company with a deep connection to Northland. Based in Ruakaka, Advanced Earthworks now serves clients from Whangarei in the north to Wellsford in the south, working with builders, housing companies, developers, and both commercial and residential property owners. The company operates a modern fleet, featuring machines equipped with 3D machine control. “Surveyors and architects can send their plans to the screens in our machines and we can follow that with the digger, making us very efficient and accurate,” Arne explains. “By leveraging cloud-based project management we can make real-time updates and adjustments, ensuring that our projects stay on track and meet all specifications.” This technological edge has enabled the company to take on increasingly complex projects. Currently, it is undertaking a commercial project in Dargaville involving earthworks for a new packhouse, and it has just completed a six-month project for a free-range egg farm involving civil works for a new pad to support a new shed. It has also just completed earthworks, including concrete, kerbing and drainage, for a large storage unit in Ruakaka, and a soldier pile wall project in Waipu Cove measuring 22 metres long, with holes nine metres deep, and 750mm in diameter. The company is also preparing to begin earthworks on a 10-lot subdivision in Maungaturoto, alongside numerous other individual house-site projects. Last year, the company completed a six-lot subdivision in Kaiwaka, including drainage systems, further demonstrating its capability to handle complex residential developments. Unlike many business owners, who retreat to the office as their companies grow, Arne maintains a hands-on approach. He says this personal involvement is central to the company’s philosophy of delivering a top-quality result.
