Shaun and partner Tash’s investments in automation have given the company a market edge. The offering has expanded to include pre-hung doors, jamb profiles, door hardware, stairs and wardrobe systems. Doors of all kinds are a core focus, including barn doors, cavity sliders, wardrobe sliders, fire doors, hidden and speciality doors. The HDS precision joinery facility in Huntly covers the Waikato and Bay of Plenty, with sister company Indoorz providing a presence for the team in the Auckland market. “Around five years ago we invested in CNC door manufacturing technology, which enables us to supply precision grade accuracy on bespoke items. Across both businesses we have a team of 28, made up of administration/accounts and manufacturing staff. We have a number of qualified, experienced joiners as well as newer staff coming through. We also have two specialised delivery vehicles and employ two drivers to move product where and when it’s needed.” HDS mostly works directly with builders, ranging from sole operators all the way through to group housing companies and firms undertaking large-scale commercial projects. “For example, we recently completed a 58-unit complex in Rotorua, where we supplied interior doors, and supplied and fitted door hardware, stairs and handrail.” HDS is innovation-focussed, reliable, values clear communication, understands technical planning detail and delivers accuracy on costings.
