This philosophy has proven particularly effective on the Spedding Industrial project in Whenuapai, where the Auckland-based civil engineering consultancy has provided civil infrastructure expertise for the 52-hectare development that has become Auckland's largest green eld industrial site north of the airport. "Our relationship building with the people we work with makes us unique," explains Cameron Gifford, director of Crang Civil. Founded in 2010 by Vaughan Crang, the specialist consulting practice has grown from its original of ce in Penrose to a larger site and expanded to include a Queenstown of ce, offering a client and people-centric approach that prioritises collaborative success. The Spedding project exempli ed this methodology in action. Crang Civil managed the complex development from inception, facilitating the rezoning of the site and civil design for resource consent and engineering plan approvals and for the subsequent construction phases. The project's scope encompassed extensive infrastructure enhancements including the extension of Spedding Road to connect with Brigham Creek Road, replacement of Brigham Creek Bridge, installation of signalised intersections, water quality treatment devices, bulk infrastructure delivery and upgrades to existing roadways. Cameron says that one of the most innovative aspects of the Spedding development involved stormwater management, where Crang Civil developed a creative solution incorporating site speci c bioretention devices into the road reserves. This approach delivered multiple bene ts: ef cient space utilisation for the developer, environmental advantages for the Council and incorporated maintenance bays to simplify ongoing council management. "The successful completion of the project indicates we are able to deliver on large complex infrastructure projects across multiple disciplines working collaboratively with others to achieve the client's goals," says Cameron. Crang Civil is currently working on another signi cant project for Oyster Capital: a large-scale housing development in Drury featuring 357 lots, with titles due to issue shortly. Crang Civil's expertise spans land development, infrastructure design, retirement villages, building projects and project management services. Cameron says this breadth allows it to assemble comprehensive teams that can address multiple project requirements while maintaining the relationship-focused approach that de nes its operations.
