Prestige Cranes has just moved into the tower crane market adding two flat-top tower cranes to its fleet. One has already been deployed to the Ardmore Water Treatment Plant in Papakura for a tank refurbishment project. “We think there is a genuine gap in the market for this type of solution on small to medium sized building and infrastructure jobs,” says company managing director Jacob Gibson. The expansion represents a natural evolution for Prestige Cranes, which began in 2021 with just two mobile cranes, a 40-tonne and a 100-tonne. It now operates a fleet of 11 mobile cranes, reaching capacities of up to 300 tonnes all-terrain as well as hiabs and transport trucks. “We specialise in a wide range of projects, from large-scale civil and construction developments to residential new builds and renovations,” explains Jacob. “Our versatile crane solutions are also ideal for specialised jobs including pool installations for residential properties, tiny house lifting for relocations and other projects where precise and reliable crane operation is essential.” Jacob brings more than a decade of industry experience to the business and his father and co-director Tony has worked for over 30 years in the crane sector. That combined depth of knowledge has underpinned a hands-on approach that Jacob says sets it apart from larger competitors. “Every customer interaction is hands-on with the business ownership,” he says. “That personal approach and consistency in service is something our clients have appreciated.” It’s also enabled the company to tackle a variety of projects from straightforward lifts to challenging and specialised operations. The end-to-end service includes everything from site inspections for assessment and planning to the safe and efficient completion of every lift. Jacob says equipment that is well looked after and maintained at all times matters is a huge focus as it supports the company to offer a reliable high quality service. Its reputation has seen Prestige Cranes tackle some significant projects. Prestige Cranes supplied eight mobile cranes for the Cardinal Logistics warehouse project in Drury, which included a steel erection job where the building stood 30 metres high and the roof structure was assembled at ground level before being lifted into position by multiple cranes at a time. The company also completed a two-year contract for the Auckland Meat Processors project, which involved the installation of pipe bridges using a 300-tonne crane and general cranage for precast panel erection on a new facility among other works. It also worked on the Auckland New Zealand Temple in Manukau supplying many mobile cranes on various occasions including a 300 tonne Grove to install the steeple steel work and a 100 tonne crane for the installation of the stone work. Jacob says suppliers have played a key part in the company’s success including accountancy firm KPMG Hamilton, Frontline Services and Doyler. Operating primarily across Auckland, Hamilton and Northern Waikato, Prestige Cranes offers wet and dry hire options, dogman and rigging services, precast panel erection, complex lift engineering and tower crane erection and dismantling.
