| 47 TRANSPORT Titus Transport Titus Transport has 70 trucks operating out of depots in Auckland, Hastings, Rotorua, Tauranga, Wellington and Christchurch as they transport general freight in their predominantly curtain-sider trucks When Tania and Clint Rolfe moved down from Auckland to the small town of Katikati with their two boys to be closer to Tania’s parents an opportunity presented itself to buy the local sports shop. With Katikati being a coastal township north of Tauranga it made sense for the whanau to take on this new adventure. They renamed it Jetty 300 after their two sons, Tania explains. “Our ive year-old is called Jet, Jetty and we have a seven-year-old Leonidas (Leo for short) after the Spartan King in the movie 300. From this the Jetty 300 was created with our 2 sons in mind. They had input into the name choice from the start along with their older brothers, Ali, Campbell and Les. Having taken over the shop the Rolfes went niche with a focus on ishing, tackle, and the outdoors. “Purely because of the location. The sea’s at our door step and the Kaimais are right there so there’s a lot of ishing, hiking, watersports and the like,” says Tania. As a whanau the Rolfes love ishing so it was a natural process to refocus the shop’s direction while aiming to make ishing and outdoor activities accessible to everyone. “We don’t want ishing to be only for people with a lot of money so we keep that in mind with what we stock and try to cover all bases so that people who want to have a go at ishing can ind what they need at more a ordable prices, we call it bread and butter.” It’s now the only ishing shop in the Katikati, Bowentown, Waihi, Ōmokoroa area that sells bait, tackle, and ice along with all the key brands of ishing equipment such as Penn, Daiwa, Shimano, and Okuma, with rods of all shapes and sizes. “Currently, Squid, mullet and salted bait are doing well in the harbor. The Jetty 300 covers a full range of frozen baits from pilchards, bonitos, mullet and berley,” says Tania. Part of the motivation for the move to Katikati was so that the boys could go to a country school and part of the intention behind the shop is to do with rounding out their sons’ education in the real world. “We’re really strong on whanau values and we want to teach the boys about business, inance, and customer service. Greeting and helping people who come into the shop whether they buy something or not. In this digital age we want them to learn how to communicate with people face to face rather than be on their devices,” says Tania. Their hope is that the boys will be an integral part in building and developing the business and then when they’re old enough they’ll have the opportunity to get a loan to buy it for the same price their parents paid,“and then they can put their spin and their vibe on it,” Tania explains. For the foreseeable future, Tania is passionate about the Jetty 300, their community, and building something together as a whanau, making their mark on the Katikati township and the world. All in in Katikati The Jetty 300 came about with the concept of this fishing, tackle and outdoor shop being connected to our whanau and community. The name “Jetty 300” is inspired by our two sons , Jet, aged 5, and Leonidas (Leo), aged 7 (after the “300” Spartan King). Our business is built on strong family values, and we’re committed to building long-term, positive relationships with our amazing community Katikati and surrounding areas. We love fishing, love to chat and love serving our community. Making fishing and the outdoors accessible to all, families, friends and beyond - with all budgets in mind.
