Oliver Tuck Construction BUILDING Founded in 2013, Oliver Tuck Construction (OTC) is well known throughout Northland for bringing dream homes to life, ranging from luxury coastal mansions to practical family homes. Under the leadership of owners Ollie and Miriam Tuck, the practice has won multiple Master Builder House of the Year awards. Homes built by OTC made the Top 100 list in both 2020 and 2024. Ollie, a seasoned builder, is passionate about wanting to bring all he has learned from the industry into the mainstream market, and has recently invested to make home building with OTC a super-efficient and fast process. It is an exciting development for Northlanders thinking about a new family home, or a granny flat. “We’ve moved into a new warehouse and are now producing all our own frames,” explains Ollie. “As well, we can build sections of the external envelope and transportable elements that will bolt together on-site. “We’re utilising lifting equipment and clever drawings, together with the controlled warehouse environment, to streamline our construction process and close in builds a lot quicker.” Rather than having one team in the warehouse and another on-site, OTC uses the same build team all the way through. “So when they turn up on-site, they already know everything about the building and the envelope,” Ollie explains. The innovative approach has multiple advantages from a client perspective. It means the building process can commence off-site in a dry, controlled environment before any onsite work gets underway. Once the build sections are trucked to site, the external envelope can be quickly assembled over a few days. Once the subtrades come in, everything is already under cover. “It shortens the length of build time and is so much more efficient.” The first project delivered through OTC’s warehouse system was a 70sqm granny flat, one of the first to be built under the Government’s new small standalone dwellings regulations that came into force early this year. These regulations mean that granny flats like this no longer need a building consent. The intention behind this change is to help increase housing supply and availability, in turn helping boost productivity in the construction sector. OTC is showcasing what’s possible and how quick it can happen. “We want to break the mould and bring innovation, speed and energy to the mainstream market,” says Ollie. “From a humanitarian perspective, I think it’s really important that we give it a go. In the best-case scenario, we hope that other builders will follow our lead as well.” In the high-end housing market, OTC continues to work with clients to achieve the meticulous finish and attention to detail they require. “The calibre of homes at the top end has gone up again by a considerable notch over the past year or two,” Ollie says. The OTC team has finished building two outstanding new homes over the past 12 months. One is on Northland’s east coast, and the other is located at Te Arai Links, an exclusive development with stunning Pacific Ocean views. “Both homes are of international scale,” says Ollie. “We’re so proud of these incredible buildings and have put so much work into them.” Concreting Services You Can Rely On Proudly Supporting Oliver Tuck Construction Concrete Driveways | House Slabs | Paths | Patios | Pool Surrounds | Special Projects Trusted across Auckland, Prep & Pour Concrete delivers high-quality, long-lasting concrete solutions backed by over 30 years of industry experience.
