T T Kelly Deeks After 30 years in business, Auckland-based construction company Glenbuild continues to prove that trust, integrity, and relationships remain the foundations of successful building projects. For owner Finn Glengarry, who took over the family company in 2011, the next chapter is shaping up to be one of growth — both in business and family legacy — as his son Connor joins the team as a fourth-generation builder. “Here in Auckland, it’s been a tough time for a lot of people, but we’re in a good place,” Finn says. “We’re looking for our next big projects, and we’re keen to talk to anyone planning their next build.” Founded in 1994 by Finn and his father, Rob Glengarry, Glenbuild has earned a reputation for high-quality residential and commercial builds, backed by integrity and personal service. Rob, described by Finn as a “great moral compass,” instilled a culture of honesty and hard work that remains at the company’s core today. “Dad was old school — a hard worker who could punch out an incredible amount in a day,” Finn says. “I’ve always been more focused on the detail, so together we made a pretty good team. That combination of skill, trust, and communication has always been what makes Glenbuild work.” That same ethos is now being passed down to Connor, who made the decision to leave his commercial property career to learn the trade from the ground up. “Connor’s 29, and he’s done a property degree and worked for Colliers in industrial and commercial real estate,” Finn says. “He’s always had a passion for property, and he decided he wanted to understand it from the building side. He’s doing the hard yards, and he loves it — he’s a natural.” It’s a proud moment for the Glengarry family, whose building roots run deep on both sides. “Connor’s a fourth-generation builder on both sides of the family, so it really is in his blood,” Finn says. “It’s pretty special to see that legacy continue.” While Glenbuild has always prided itself on its traditional values, the company is also embracing the future. As Vice President of Auckland Master Builders, Finn keeps close to the industry’s latest developments in materials, systems, and technology. “The industry is changing fast,” he says. “AI, robotics, and digital QA systems are already starting to shape how we build. It’s important we stay relevant. Master Builders gives us that connection to the new technologies and information coming through, and our suppliers are great at supporting that too.” Finn says his team’s success lies in collaboration, both with clients and their architects and Glenbuild’s long-standing subcontractors. “We’ve worked with many of the same contractors for decades. Building’s not a solo sport, it’s a collaboration. I’ve always had a really hands-on, personal approach with clients and partners, and I think that’s why people trust us.” Glenbuild’s approach has paid off in the form of award-winning results. Its Rawhitiroa renovation project was named National Supreme Renovation of the Year at the 2023 Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards, and in the same year its Waiheke Island new build earned a Top 100 national placing. “The House of the Year Awards are a great way to build client confidence,” Finn says. “In this industry, trust is everything, and those awards show clients we deliver what we promise.” Three decades on, Glenbuild remains committed to creating homes and workplaces that inspire, while maintaining the personal, trustworthy approach that has defined the company since day one. “It’s pretty cool to drive around Auckland and see all the projects we’ve built,” Finn says. “It’s a legacy — something real we’ve left behind. And now, having Connor on board, that legacy’s in good hands.” Proudly supporting Glenbuild Ltd 021 433 912 info@davincis-painting.co.nz www.davincis-painting.co.nz Timber floor specialists offering expert craftsmanship in all aspects of timber flooring — from installation and sanding to finishing and repairs.
