You never know what you’re going to get. It’s always a thrill to win gold” says Versatile Pukekohe owner Wenny Lubbers. The 215sqm award-winning Tuakau showhome combines contemporary style with sustainability—from low-carbon concrete floors that retain warmth, to a smart hydronic heating system and full insulation for yearround comfort. Every element has been thoughtfully designed to minimise the home’s carbon footprint while enhancing liveability. Built with the future in mind, it offers energy efficiency, comfort, and lasting quality. The showhome showcases how sustainability can be seamlessly integrated into everyday living without sacrificing comfort or design. From the outset, the build team focused on reducing the home’s carbon footprint. Exposed aggregate flooring made from low-carbon concrete is paired with comprehensive insulation. Heating and ventilation are delivered through a hydronic heat-pump system, modern radiators, and a smart ducted setup. Each room features its own thermostat and humidity sensor, ensuring a healthy and comfortable living environment throughout. Diverse Builders constructed the showhome, with suppliers including Nebulite, Gerard Roofing, LK Flooring, Kitchen Studio, and many others. “I made sure that the house had a welcoming feeling, and that people feel at home and comfortable,” says Wenny. Wenny is the managing director and co-owner, alongside his wife Arean, of the Versatile Homes Pukekohe franchise, where he leads a team of six. Their business is one of 30 Versatile Homes franchises operating across New Zealand. Wenny began his building career in the Netherlands in 1988 and went on to complete a Bachelor of Engineering in Building Environment at the age of 40. “We are one of the biggest home builders in the Versatile network.,” he says “We’ve won 10 awards over the last 9 years. This shows people that we stand for quality. We build the best”. Over the years, Versatile Pukekohe has delivered a wide range of projects—from farm buildings, garages, and sleepouts to stunning million-dollar homes. The team’s skill and passion have been recognised with multiple Registered Master Builder House of the Year Awards since 2018, along with consistent success at the Versatile Franchise Awards from 2016 through to 2025.
