Oyster Capital: Whenuapai Village REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Hot on the heels of the successful 36ha Whenuapai Village development, Oyster Capital is now shaping the next chapter in Northwest Auckland’s expansion with the 46ha Spedding Industrial Estate. Directly across the road from Whenuapai Village, which features 1,000 homes, a town centre, a neighbourhood park and playground, the new industrial precinct is designed to bring work opportunities, retail convenience and business growth to one of Auckland’s fastest growing regions. Oyster Capital director Cameron Wilson says Northwest Auckland has been a hub of growth in the wider Auckland region, with new homes, schools, jobs and shops emerging to support the area’s surging population. “Oyster Capital committed early on to being part of the growth in this area, delivering three significant plan changes to unlock infrastructure for housing and employment growth in the region,” he says. The statistics back up the scale of transformation in the area. “The growth of the northwest corridor, projected out to 2051, is vast: approximately another 89,000 people will be living in the area,” Cameron says. This growth underpins the viability of the Spedding Industrial Estate, which will give prospective buyers a rare opportunity to secure land in a modern industrial development. The link created between SH16 and SH18 ensures exceptional transport links and connectivity between West Auckland, the city and the airport. Flexible development plans cater to a range of business needs, with lots available from 3,500sqm to 50,000sqm+. “The industrial hub really complements the Whenuapai Village development, and the region as a whole,” Cameron says. “Waitakere City had always earmarked this land as an employment hub; it has always been part of the strategic plan for the city.” Oyster Capital’s track record is evident at Whenuapai Village, where it created roads, stormwater networks and a mix of housing typologies to establish a thriving community. The company even shifted eight mature oak trees – the largest of which weighing 108 tonnes – to the town park to create a sense of establishment. “We’ve really created a community out there,” Cameron says. The Spedding Industrial Estate is being built to the same high standards. Power networks, stormwater reticulation systems, a 7.2ha reserve and esplanade and nine major transport upgrades – including phased lighting, road and bridge rebuilding – are all part of the plan to future-proof the area. A commissioned work by renowned sculpture artist Anton Forde will mark the roundabout at Spedding Road as a distinctive gateway to the precinct. Cameron says the development is already attracting strong interest, particularly from businesses expanding out of Albany. “There is huge energy out there,” he says. “It is pretty cool for people living around here, and to cater for business’ growing employment needs.” Cameron says Oyster Capital’s ability to identify untapped potential and deliver it with precision, vision and integrity is what sets it apart. “Our track record and deep expertise earn the trust of our stakeholders, who count on us to make it happen,” he says.
