Advance Build’s team includes 50 employees, spanning home consultants, architectural designers, quantity surveyors, site foremen, factory specialists, tradespeople, administration, customer service, and office support staff, along with supporting subcontractors. The company’s prefab builds use New Zealand-made products sourced from local suppliers, with three ranges of prefab homes available: Classic, Modern, and Designer. Each comes with a standard interior fit-out, including carpet, tiles, double-glazed windows, and Bosch appliances, such as oven, dishwasher, and stovetop. Standard specifications are included in the base price, with premium upgrade options available, and all builds come with a 10-year home builder’s guarantee. “We offer a complete turnkey housing solution for our customers,” says Advance Build director, Joseph Simpkin. “Starting with our standard range of home designs, we custom-design homes to specifically suit our client’s site and needs. Our team manages the consenting process on behalf of our clients, and we construct the homes offsite in our Waipapa Factory, near Kerikeri. “We have an on-site team that handles delivery of the homes to site, and all service connections, including obtaining the final Code of Compliance. “Advance Build homes are finished to a high standard. Building homes inside our purpose-built factory allows us to have strict quality controls in place over the entire building process.” Advance Build also has a commercial offering, as Joseph explains. “We have a commercial arm offering offices, clubrooms, classrooms, childcare centres, holiday park accommodation, ablution blocks, and more. We build them off-site in a controlled environment in our factory, minimising disruption to the client’s business.” Using a controlled prefab construction facility for residential and commercial builds eliminates concerns about weather delays, material storage, neighbour complaints, road access, availability of trades, and more. “It brings control to the construction process,” says Joseph. “Prefabricated builds provide cost certainty, speed, and reliability. The cost of the build is guaranteed, and you end up with a higher-quality product.” Advance Build also has a sustainability focus, Joseph says. “Our factory runs on solar power. We minimise waste, and in our factory environment any leftover materials can be recycled back into the production process. “Our factory is the largest home-building factory in Northland and can produce up to 120 homes a year, with all construction taking place in a fully enclosed, purpose-built facility. We manage all design in-house, reducing much of the stress and hassle in the early stages. This allows us to condense the design and consenting phase.” At any given time, the team manages around 30 active projects – 12 to 15 in the factory, others in the early design phase, and some being completed on-site. Future plans include expanding the commercial side of the business and increasing residential builds across all Advance Build locations.
