Today, it provides a full suite of property and facilities services across the commercial, education and social housing sectors, with strong workloads in Canterbury and Wellington and an eye on national growth. While Switched On self-delivers many of its electrical and carpentry services, it also works with a trusted network of subcontractors for specialist trades. One particular success story is the proactive maintenance programme at Bunnings Lyall Bay. he store’s coastal location exposes it to salt air and moisture, so the team carries out regular rust treatments, exterior painting and protective coatings to keep the building resilient and looking sharp. It’s a collaborative effort that helps the site remain safe, functional and pleasant for customers and staff alike. Digital tools now play a growing role in scheduling, reporting and communication. “They make things easier not only for us, but also for our clients — offering better visibility over maintenance schedules and faster responses when something needs attention,” Nicola says, Switched On Group is majority Māoriowned through Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira, making it a rare iwi-owned national facilities provider. CONTRACTING A recent milestone was the acquisition of PAE New Zealand, a major national facilities maintenance company managing more than 4,000 buildings and completing 230,000-plus maintenance tasks each year. The move is a strategic step toward becoming one of the country’s largest integrated property-solutions providers, expanding capability and reach while retaining a strong community focus.
